XRP logged its weakest weekly close in nearly two years, ending last week at $1.029. The digital asset, which is one of the largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, currently trades near $1.03 after a modest 0.5% daily decline and a 3.43% drop during the week.
XRP’s price at two-year lows
From the start of 2026, XRP has fallen roughly 44%, returning to a price zone that previously acted as a critical support level. This prolonged decline highlights ongoing bearish sentiment in the altcoin’s market performance.
Ash Crypto, a noted market analyst, pointed out the significance of this development, stating that XRP’s latest weekly close marks its weakest level in almost two years.
Market commentator That Martini Guy, posting on X, described the situation as “a serious breakdown” and said the main question is whether this recent move represents the beginning of a deeper reset or the kind of capitulation that could ultimately offer an opportunity for reversal. He confirmed that he remains closely focused on the evolving situation.
That Martini Guy described XRP just closing its lowest week in nearly two years at $1.029 as a serious breakdown, and emphasized that the critical question is whether this marks the start of a deeper reset or a capitulation event setting up the next opportunity.
Debate over price direction: Double bottom or deeper losses?
Technical analyst and XRP developer Bird noted that XRP is now sitting on an important support area at the $1 level. He proposed two main scenarios for what could happen next.
In the first scenario, the asset could hold the $1 support, form a double-bottom pattern, and possibly trigger a W-shaped reversal that pushes XRP higher. In a second, more volatile scenario, XRP might temporarily fall below $1, allowing for a liquidity sweep, before recovering and setting up for stronger gains. According to Bird, either pathway could create the basis for a rebound.
Market watcher ChartNerd, however, presented a more cautious outlook, projecting a potential drop to $0.70 before XRP is able to mount a meaningful recovery. He suggested that downward momentum could persist through the end of 2026.
Technical indicators and whale accumulation
Ali Martinez, a well-known cryptocurrency analyst, highlighted that the TD Sequential indicator has produced a buy signal for XRP’s monthly price chart. In the past, similar signals preceded notable XRP rallies of 1,074% in 2020 and 973% in 2022.
Martinez stressed that XRP first needs to reclaim $1.06, where almost 3 billion tokens have changed hands, in order to break through major resistance. A monthly close above this level could open the path to $1.35, and eventually $1.64.

The daily Relative Strength Index (RSI) currently stands at 39, indicating ongoing bearish pressure. An upward move above the 50 RSI threshold could help XRP overcome the $1.06 resistance and set the 50-day exponential moving average (EMA) at $1.10 as the next goal.
Martinez also observed that large XRP holders, often referred to as whales, accumulated 380 million tokens over the past week. This continued accumulation suggests that major investors remain committed despite uncertain prospects regarding the CLARITY Act in 2026. If XRP can sustain a close above the 50-day EMA at $1.10 for three sessions, it could then aim for the 200-day EMA at $1.18.
Mini dictionary: The TD Sequential indicator is a technical analysis tool used to identify potential price trend exhaustion and possible reversal points by counting a series of price bars according to specific rules.
The TD Sequential indicator has flashed a buy signal on XRP’s monthly timeframe, historically preceding major rallies, while whales acquired 380 million XRP last week, supporting the case that key investors remain confident despite ongoing price declines.
