As XRP clings to the $1.41 mark, it closed August with a notable 35% increase, challenging the notion that the onset of fall is typically weak for the cryptocurrency. Despite common perceptions, September appears to be a period of relative strength for XRP.

What Makes September Stand Out?

Over the last four years, XRP has consistently ended September in the green, registering increases of 46.2%, 0.42%, 7.98%, and 2.49%. The median September return for the asset’s entire history also stands at 0.42%. This gathering momentum toward the end of summer suggests that September 2026 might continue this positive trend.

With a strong rebound in the third quarter following a sharp pullback in the first half of the year, a pronounced shift in market direction is evident. As of the end of August, the total return reached 37%, signalling recovery.

XRP, year-to-date, has shown robust recovery in the third quarter, achieving an overall return of 37% by the end of August.

How Could Senate Decisions Influence XRP?

The U.S. Senate’s upcoming Clarity Act vote on September 15 is capturing the market’s attention. If passed, it could provide XRP with a clear federal commodity status, significantly reducing existing regulatory uncertainties.

Since the first-half losses, market expectations have supported this directional shift. In the first quarter, XRP dropped by 27.1%, and in the second by 22.4%. Contrastingly, by the end of August, the third quarter reflected a 37% gain, surpassing the historical quarterly median return of 27.9%.

  • First Quarter 2026: 27.1% decline.
  • Second Quarter 2026: 22.4% drop.
  • End of August Third Quarter 2026: 37% increase.
  • Historical Quarterly Median: 27.9%.

Spot ETFs for XRP saw a net inflow of $127.34 million in August, raising the cumulative net inflow to $1.64 billion, with managed net assets reaching $1.49 billion. Meanwhile, XRP Ledger continues its high activity levels, recently surpassing 5 billion transactions. Furthermore, a security audit has commenced for XRPL Lending Protocol V1.1.

Spot XRP ETFs recorded a net inflow of $127.34 million in August, pushing the cumulative inflow to $1.64 billion.

If the technical upturn coincides with a favorable Senate decision on September 15, XRP may extend its series of profitable Septembers for a fifth year. A strong monthly close could shift focus to the fourth quarter, historically XRP’s most lucrative period with average returns of 133.3%.
