The XRP Ledger Foundation (@XRPLF) has updated its two primary developer libraries, xrpl.js and xrpl-py, to support XRPL version 3.3.0, according to developer @JulianBerridi. A Java library update is expected within a day of the announcement. A community-built PHP library has already matched the new version, and the Ruby library is next in line, per its maintainer.
What Version 3.3.0 Introduces
The 3.3.0 server release shipped in early August, carrying several proposed protocol amendments. The release bundles Confidential Transfer, BatchV1_1, DynamicMPT, PermissionDelegationV1_1, Sponsor, and fixCleanup3_3_0 into one coordinated upgrade.
Confidential Transfer keeps Multi-Purpose Token (MPT) balances and transfers private by encrypting them on the XRP Ledger.Batch lets users combine up to eight transactions into a single operation, making complex payments, trustless swaps, and OTC trades easier.Sponsored Fees allow banks, businesses, or platforms to pay XRP transaction fees and account reserves for users, meaning new users no longer need to hold $XRP before accessing XRPL services.
Beyond the new amendments, the update cuts memory usage by more than 15%, improves online_delete performance, fixes around 60 bugs found during AI-powered testing, upgrades the code from C++20 to C++23, and expands test coverage.
Amendments Still Need Validator Approval
Updating the developer libraries does not bring these features live on the network. Under the XRP Ledger amendment process, new protocol features require validator support before activation. An amendment must maintain more than 80% support from trusted validators for two continuous weeks before taking effect. Until that threshold is met and held, none of the proposed features are active on $XRP mainnet.
RippleX product head Jazzi Cooper said the package is designed to support transfer, trading, collateralization, and settlement of globally tokenized assets, placing tokenized real-world assets closer to the center of the ledger's institutional roadmap.
