A newly surfaced breakdown of XRP wallet balances has provided insight into the distribution of funds across the XRP ledger, one of the world’s largest public blockchain networks. The analysis, shared by crypto community member Amanda, reveals that while millions of wallets exist on the network, the vast majority hold modest amounts, with a small cluster controlling the largest sums.
Top wallet tiers dominate XRP supply
At the highest end of the spectrum, only four wallets each possess at least one billion XRP, accounting for a combined 6.4 billion coins. Just below this level, 23 accounts hold between 500 million and one billion XRP, collectively controlling nearly 12.8 billion tokens. This concentration at the top highlights the significant impact of a few large holders within the ecosystem.
Further down the list, 57 wallets each retain between 100 million and 500 million XRP. Another 131 accounts lie in the 20 million to 100 million range. Additional tiers include 151 wallets with 10 million to 20 million XRP, and 172 wallets holding between 5 million and 10 million tokens.
While there are millions of XRP wallets in existence, most hold only small balances, with just a select group of large accounts dominating the upper ranks of the network’s distribution.
The distribution demonstrates a pronounced gap between the top holders and the remainder of the community.

Growth of accounts in lower balance tiers
As wallet sizes decrease, the number of accounts increases sharply. There are 1,445 wallets holding between 1 million and 5 million XRP, and 2,410 in the 500,000 to 1 million range. The 100,000 to 500,000 XRP tier contains 28,743 wallets, and over 10,544 accounts manage balances between 75,000 and 100,000 XRP.
The trend accelerates in smaller tiers: more than 433,000 wallets hold between 1,000 and 5,000 XRP. Approximately 2.4 million wallets maintain balances between 20 and 500 XRP. At the lowest end, around 1.3 million wallets store 20 XRP or less, showing that the majority of XRP wallets contain minimal holdings.
Adjusting for active wallet statistics
Another community analyst noted that corporate and exchange wallets can distort perceptions of individual holder rankings. Filtering out these addresses narrows the focus to actively used accounts. Based on this adjusted view, the top 0.1% of active wallets each hold at least 275,000 XRP, representing about 8,000 addresses. To join the top 1%, a wallet needs between 44,000 and 46,000 XRP, while the threshold for the top 5% is about 7,500 coins. The top 10% of wallets hold 2,100 XRP or more.

The updated metrics offer individuals a clearer perspective on their relative position among XRP holders when removing non-retail accounts from the analysis.

Community perspectives and debate
The disclosure prompted further discussion within the XRP community, especially regarding the accuracy of the figures. One member pointed out that some individuals control multiple wallets, a fact which could complicate the process of determining individual positions in the rankings.
Others observed that top wallet tiers are often dominated by institutions and escrow accounts—rather than individual users—due to the structure of the XRP ecosystem. One participant claimed only about 0.1% of holders have become millionaires since the network’s launch fourteen years ago.
The top wallet brackets are primarily driven by institutional and escrow holdings, often exceeding the balances seen among individual users.
