A sharp move in XRP has drawn attention among traders and analysts, after the cryptocurrency surged nearly 59% since breaking out from a key technical area. The rally followed chart signals identified by BankXRP, a crypto analyst active on X (formerly Twitter), and coincided with a series of regulatory and institutional developments benefiting the Ripple ecosystem.

XRP surges after technical breakout

BankXRP posted a TradingView chart on August 22 highlighting that XRP had gained 59% from its breakout point, with the token reaching $1.5638. Early traders who recognized the setup saw substantial returns as the upswing unfolded.

Shortly after, additional commentary from the trading community indicated that XRP extended its rally, touching a high of $1.68 before moderating to around $1.53. This move marked a multi-month peak for the cryptocurrency and underscored renewed interest in the asset.

Nearly 59% move from the breakout area. The setup was there. Those who positioned early are now seeing it play out. This is why I watch the structure, not just the candles.

Market observers emphasized structure-based analysis for anticipating such moves, rather than relying solely on short-term candlestick activity for trading decisions.

Major US regulatory and political developments

On August 19, regulatory attention on the crypto sector intensified when Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse joined President Donald Trump at the White House, accompanied by key figures such as SEC Chair Paul Atkins, CFTC Chair Mike Selig, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong. The group discussed digital asset policy and the future of regulatory approaches in the United States.

Trump publicly urged Congress to advance the CLARITY Act, legislation designed to set a federal regulatory framework for digital assets and determine whether cryptocurrencies are classified as securities or commodities. The bill, which already passed the US House of Representatives in 2025, is now scheduled for a procedural Senate vote on September 15 and requires 60 votes to proceed.

Garlinghouse cited research that estimates 67 million Americans are crypto holders, representing nearly one in four adults. He argued that clear regulation would facilitate broader adoption and open the doors for greater institutional investment.

Institutional flows and new partnerships strengthen XRP momentum

Institutional demand for XRP gained a boost as spot XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded $5.81 million in inflows on August 18, the highest single-day amount since July 31. Data shows these ETFs currently hold about 1.5% of XRP’s circulating supply, increasing their influence on price dynamics.

Ripple also announced a strategic partnership with Jeonbuk Bank in South Korea to launch Ripple Payments, supporting faster and more efficient cross-border business remittances. This initiative aims to increase XRP’s practical utility and drive further institutional adoption.

Analyst perspective: Structure over short-term signals

BankXRP reiterated that the 59% rally was foreseeable for those tracking technical structures, not just daily price fluctuations. Analysts believe that strategic early positioning, based on longer-term structural analysis, continues to distinguish consistently successful traders from those who react to short-term movements.

Those who saw the structure bought early and are seeing profit. Positioning early, based on structure, is what separates prepared traders from reactive ones.
