The new official @XRP account on X is drawing one of the fastest follower surges in crypto. According to @jacqmelinek, it took only 6.5 hours from her posting the question "how fast can the new $XRP account hit 100k followers" for the account to pass that milestone. Managed by @Ripple and the XRP Ledger Foundation, the page has given the XRP community a long-awaited official voice.

A first official account after 14 years

The @XRP account went live on October 19. XRP launched its official X account, @XRP, on Oct. 19, more than 14 years after the cryptocurrency's creation. The account is jointly managed by Ripple and the XRP Ledger Foundation, according to its profile.

Its debut featured a 10-second video displaying the XRP logo alongside a brief greeting: "hello, world. It's about time."Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse welcomed the account, describing its arrival as long overdue, while the XRP Ledger Foundation called it a new era for the cryptocurrency's online presence.

Before the launch, the community relied on informal channels. For years, the XRP community relied on a patchwork of unofficial accounts, community-run pages, and individual posts from Ripple executives, and no single account carried the authority to speak for the broader XRP Ledger ecosystem.

Follower growth and what it means

Early follower counts varied depending on when they were captured. Follower counts reported in early coverage ranged from about 21,700 to more than 111,000.Bitcoin.com reported that the account passed 111,000 followers within about 13 hours of its first post. Its first post drew 3.2 million views, while XRP held near $1.30 with an $82 billion market cap.

The surge points to sustained engagement from the XRP Army, the term used for the token's large retail community, in 2026. It is also a notable result for an account that, per Bitcoin.com, is run by a company and a nonprofit foundation rather than by a fan page.

The launch is unlikely to change how the network operates. The account does not change token supply or ledger governance. Some in the community have read the timing as a signal of coming news. CaptainAltcoin noted there is no evidence the account itself signals a new product, XRP distribution, protocol change or undisclosed announcement. The launch comes one week before Ripple's Swell 2026 conference, scheduled for October 27 to 29 in New York City.
