XRP’s October Record Puts Its Third-Quarter Rally to the Test
CryptoCompass editorial visual for altcoins coverage.

In Brief:

  • XRP has gained roughly 45% over three months, yet its historical October losses challenge expectations for an immediate Uptober rally.
  • XRP’s fourth-quarter average reaches 133.3%, but its negative median shows exceptional gains have distorted the broader historical picture for traders.
  • XRP could test support between $1.30 and $1.40, while sustained gains above recent highs would indicate stronger buyer demand.

XRP has gained roughly 45% over three months, but its October record challenges expectations for an immediate Uptober rally. CryptoRank placed the token near $1.51, although September’s remaining sessions could still change its final third-quarter return.

The advance gives XRP considerable gains to defend as traders assess whether buying can carry into the fourth quarter. However, a strong quarterly finish does not guarantee that the token will extend its rise throughout October. CryptoRank’s historical figures put XRP’s average October return at minus 5.14% and its median at minus 2.97%.

Those numbers reflect previous trading years, so they cannot establish how XRP will perform this October. Nevertheless, they challenge the assumption that a broad Uptober rally would lift every major cryptocurrency immediately. XRP could lose ground during October while still recording a fourth-quarter gain if buyers return later.

Such an outcome would depend on price action rather than the seasonal pattern alone. A retreat toward the $1.30 to $1.40 range would test whether buyers support XRP below its recent trading price. Alternatively, sustained gains above recent highs would suggest that demand remains strong despite the token’s weaker October history.

XRP’s Fourth-Quarter Average Masks an Uneven Record

Historical figures cited for XRP show an average fourth-quarter return of 133.3%, which appears encouraging at first glance. However, the quarter’s median return stands at minus 8%, indicating that unusually large gains have raised the average.

The difference matters because an average can give exceptional years more influence over expectations than most years deserve. Moreover, October’s historical results differ considerably from the stronger figures reported for November and December.  November has a median return of 80.2%, while December’s median stands at 63.1%.

Consequently, XRP’s fourth-quarter record does not imply that buyers must establish an uptrend as soon as October begins. It shows that gains during one part of a quarter can outweigh weakness during another. Even so, historical patterns offer context rather than reliable signals about current demand or future prices.

Some explanations for XRP’s recent rise also require more evidence than the price chart alone provides. Rising prices alone can’t show how much of the move came from short liquidations versus sustained spot buying. Similarly, the size of the advance does not show whether leveraged futures positions could trigger a correction.

XRP enters October with substantial gains, a weaker seasonal record, and price levels that could clarify buyers’ strength. Its movement around support and recent highs will matter more than the Uptober label.
