CryptoCompass editorial visual for markets coverage.
  • XRP faces $1.44 resistance, while a sustained breakout could strengthen recovery prospects and shift short-term market sentiment.
  • The biggest liquidation blitz came in August, demonstrating the risk of losing a position due to dramatic price swings.
  • Binance leads XRP futures volume and trade counts, while CME holds the largest open interest in the displayed exchange data.

XRP continues to trade at around $1.40 to evaluate resistance, liquidation activity and futures positioning. Recent price action shows an uncertain market following August’s sharp recovery.

XRP Faces Resistance After Its August Recovery

CRYPTOWZRD’s technical outlook describes XRP’s daily close as indecisive. The analyst identifies $1.44 as the immediate intraday resistance level. A rejection there could create a short opportunity, while holding above it would improve the bullish outlook.

The daily chart shows XRP recovering from approximately $1.00 in August. Price subsequently climbed toward $1.55 before losing upward momentum. However, resistance near $1.60 continues to limit the recovery.

A descending trendline previously marked a prolonged sequence of lower highs. Later XRP bounced off that level in its recovery. However, the breakout hasn't formed a clear upward trend yet.

According to the latest market data, XRP is trading at $1.40. It trades in a trading volume of around $1.50 billion per day. The token appreciated 0.45% in 24 hours and fell 5.14% in the seven days period.

Liquidations Reveal the Risks of Leveraged Positioning

The perpetual liquidation chart shows relatively modest activity throughout much of April, May, June, and July. Several isolated spikes appeared during late May and late June. These episodes indicate periods of increased pressure on leveraged traders.

The largest liquidation cluster appeared around August 20–23. XRP rallied from about $1.00 to $1.50 during this time period. The chart records a liquidation bar approaching $82 million, alongside substantial activity on the opposite side.

This is a very volatile market for game players with both long and short trades. The chart, however, does not necessarily identify the precise order of forced closures. It also cannot determine whether current positioning favors a sustained rally or another decline.

Liquidation activity remained comparatively lower after the August spike. There were more bursts during September and early October, though. Such volatilities indicate that leverage is still vulnerable to abrupt price swings.

Futures Activity and Support Levels Define the Next Move

Exchange data places CME first in XRP open interest at approximately $542.52 million. Binance follows with $505.81 million, while Bybit records $322.88 million. MEXC, Gate, Bitget, and Hyperliquid also contribute substantial futures exposure.

Binance leads the displayed futures volume rankings at approximately $637.17 million. MEXC follows with $473.32 million, while Bybit records $251.52 million. CME and Gate report approximately $218.09 million and $141.12 million, respectively.

Trade counts show Binance leading with approximately 1.44 million transactions. Bybit, with approximately 374,540 trades, follows in the footsteps of LBank, which holds 624,960. These figures indicate that activity varies considerably across exchanges.

The immediate technical test remains $1.44, according to CRYPTOWZRD’s assessment. A rejection could place lower support levels back in focus. A continuation of the recovery would, however, maintain a higher level of resistance in the short term.

In the broader chart, $1.60 is the resistance level and $1.30 is the support level. If selling picks up, $1.07 and $0.90 may be in sight further down. Bitcoin’s direction may also influence XRP, leaving the next move dependent on price confirmation and wider market conditions.
