The digital asset delivered one of its most impressive weekly performances in recent months, climbing roughly 53% within a single seven-day period. According to CoinMarketCap, XRP was trading around $1.47 on Aug. 24, fluctuating within a daily band of $1.46 to $1.54.
XRP PriceThis rally pushed XRP back to a price zone that has historically acted as a ceiling. Market analyst Ash Crypto characterized it as approaching a seven-month peak. Another analyst, Pumpius, observed that the upward movement originated from a bottom near $0.985.
Market observer Crypto Patel pinpointed $1.55 as the critical resistance barrier ahead. According to his analysis, a convincing daily close above this threshold could fuel additional upside momentum. Conversely, failure to break through might trigger a pullback toward lower support zones.
The $1.54 intraday peak landed just beneath that $1.55 threshold, positioning it as an obvious near-term challenge. Meanwhile, XRP Update highlighted that market participants successfully defended the $1.45 support level across multiple trading platforms.
Spot ETF Products Attract Capital
United States-based spot XRP exchange-traded funds registered $39.78 million in net inflows throughout the Aug. 17–21 trading week, marking the most robust weekly performance since May. Total cumulative net inflows advanced to approximately $1.55 billion. Friday’s flow statistics indicated roughly $18 million in activity, with Bitwise, Grayscale, and Franklin leading contributions.
This uptick followed a challenging period earlier in August when weekly inflows plummeted approximately 93% to a mere $1.01 million. Combined net assets held within XRP ETF vehicles stood near $940 million.
Futures Market Engagement Expands
According to CoinGlass analytics, XRP futures open interest measured $3.72 billion on Aug. 24. Twenty-four-hour futures trading volume hit $8.84 billion, while spot market volume registered approximately $1.89 billion.
The substantial disparity between futures and spot trading volumes indicates heightened leveraged positioning. Such conditions can amplify price swings near critical resistance points and elevate liquidation exposure should bullish momentum fade.
Blockchain analytics reinforced this narrative. Analyst Ali Charts highlighted that XRP active addresses exploded by 654.71%, surging from 47,180 to 356,070. Ali Charts explained that such dramatic increases typically reflect intensified network engagement and frequently coincide with elevated price fluctuations.
Ripple disclosed ownership of 37.66 billion XRP tokens as of June 30, with 32.6 billion remaining locked in on-ledger escrow mechanisms. On Aug. 3, Ripple revealed strategic investments in ZILO and Licuido aimed at broadening transfer agency capabilities and collateral mobility infrastructure.
The token continues trading well below its January 2018 record high of $3.84. As of Aug. 24, market attention concentrated on the $1.45–$1.55 corridor, with the critical variable being XRP’s response upon testing the $1.55 resistance barrier.
