The price is down. The technology is not. That is the position Vet (@Vet_X0), a validator on the XRP Ledger, put forward in a recent post. “XRP is perhaps down in price, but up in tech,” he wrote. XRP trades at $1.39, down almost 9% from last week. Vet’s statement captures exactly where the network stands right now.
Permission Delegation Goes Live
The Permission Delegation amendment just activated on the XRP Ledger mainnet. With this amendment, account holders can authorize other accounts to send specific transaction types for them. Developers can now restrict what delegated accounts can do natively. The amendment held above 80% validator support for two consecutive weeks before activating.
Batch Arrives Today
The Batch amendment is scheduled for October 9, paired with a companion security fix, fixBatchV1_2. Batch lets users group up to 8 transactions into one atomic operation. Every transaction in the group succeeds, or the whole batch fails. No partial outcomes. This capability matters enormously for institutional settlement and complex multi-step workflows.
Three amendments remain in the voting pipeline: Confidential Transfer, Sponsor, and Dynamic MPT. Confidential Transfer will encrypt MPT balances and transfer amounts on-chain. Sponsor will allow third parties to cover transaction fees and reserve requirements for other users. Dynamic MPT will let issuers modify certain token properties after issuance.
Why the Tech Matters for Price Growth
Each upgrade makes the XRP Ledger more capable for institutional use. Permission Delegation reduces risk in automated systems. Batch enables clean atomic settlements. Sponsor removes the XRP holding requirement for new users. Confidential Transfer gives institutions the privacy they need on a public ledger.
More capable infrastructure attracts more network activity. More network activity builds the case for long-term adoption. Adoption, sustained over time, supports price appreciation.
Reactions to Vet’s post showed a divided community. Some agreed with his stance. One user argued that Batch alone improves both user experience and platform sustainability, since it allows platforms to actually charge for their services rather than relying on fee splits. Another took the long view, saying utility follows tech and price follows utility.
Others were more skeptical. One user questioned whether technical progress makes a falling portfolio feel any better. Another said investors participate by holding, not by building, and pushed back on using tech development as an excuse to tolerate poor price performance.
