Key Insights:
- Zcash crypto faced renewed selling after October’s rally, with traders monitoring support near $1,050.
- Analyst Ardi identified a potential buying opportunity if ZEC price completed a deeper correction.
- CoinGlass recorded approximately $2.3 billion in open interest, with leveraged positions remaining elevated.
The Zcash crypto market faced renewed pressure on Oct. 24 as traders examined a possible decline toward $1,050. ZEC price retreated after reaching above $1,350 earlier in the week. According to a renowned crypto analyst, a deeper correction could present a buying opportunity, although that scenario remained conditional.
OKX historical data showed Zcash price touched $1,368.72 on Oct. 22 before prices weakened. Its Oct. 24 range included trades below $1,200, demonstrating how quickly the earlier advance reversed. For the ZEC crypto, traders now face a test of support rather than confirmation of fresh accumulation.
Why Zcash Crypto Traders are Watching the $1,050 Support?
Crypto market commentator Ardi, in his Oct. 24 X post, identified $1,050 as a threshold for his bullish response. He said he would bid aggressively if ZEC lost that level and completed a larger head-and-shoulders correction.
The statement described an intended strategy, not evidence of executed purchases. For Zcash crypto, that difference matters when traders interpret social-media posts as evidence of conviction.

Ardi’s scenario depended on a specific technical pattern completing. Without that confirmation, his proposed entry remained hypothetical. Historical lows alone offered no proof of renewed spot demand.
Recent trading offered a reason for caution. OKX data recorded a low near $1,049 on Oct. 19, placing $1,050 within a previously tested area. If Zcash crypto loses that zone decisively, the psychological $1,000 threshold would become the next reference point.
A sustained move below $1,000 could expose lower trading areas, potentially toward $800. That figure represents a downside scenario, not a verified forecast or guaranteed target. A move from $1,050 to $800 would represent a decline of nearly 24%. Conversely, reclaiming $1,200 could signal that sellers were losing some immediate control.
Derivatives Positioning Complicates the ZEC Price Outlook
The Zcash crypto retreat coincided with elevated derivatives activity. CoinGlass showed approximately $2.3 billion in ZEC futures open interest. The platform also recorded roughly $5.5 billion in 24-hour futures volume. Spot volume was considerably lower, near $342 million, over the same rolling period.
Those figures suggested derivatives trading dominated reported turnover, but they did not establish buyers’ direction. Each futures contract includes opposing positions, while high volume can reflect rapid turnover. For Zcash crypto, leverage therefore remained a source of downside risk during volatile sessions.
CoinGlass also listed around $22.9 million in liquidations over the preceding 24 hours. Such forced position closures can intensify short-term price swings. They cannot, however, independently identify where the next durable price floor will emerge.
Binance and Bybit data aggregated by Coinalyze offered a narrower picture. As of Oct. 24, Binance ZEC perpetuals showed roughly $511 million in open interest. Account ratios favored longs slightly, but account counts did not measure the size of each trader’s position.
This distinction limits claims that Zcash crypto traders broadly accumulated during the retreat. Open interest may stay elevated even while individual participants reduce their exposure. Confirmed spot buying and sustained price stabilization would offer stronger evidence of demand.
Could NU7 and Crosslink Support Zcash Crypto Demand?
Protocol development supplied a separate reason for investors to monitor Zcash. The Zcash Foundation released Zebra 7.0.0 on Oct. 22, adding support for the NU7 upgrade. Its release notes specified mainnet activation at block height 3,543,405. The foundation also instructed node operators to upgrade before activation to remain on the consensus chain.
For the ZEC crypto, Zcash Improvement Proposal 259 outlined a shorter target block interval, from 75 seconds to 25 seconds. The proposal also described limits on shielded actions and a mechanism for removing transaction fees. These features concern network operations, not a direct guarantee of higher token prices. The proposal also preserves the 21 million ZEC supply cap.
Separately, Shielded Labs described Crosslink as a proposed hybrid proof-of-work-and-proof-of-stake upgrade for Zcash. Its stated objective included strengthening the network’s monetary security and introducing staking participation.
Crosslink is distinct from NU7 and should not be included in that deployment. For Zcash crypto investors, treating separate development milestones as one imminent catalyst would distort the timeline.
Protocol work and market positioning could influence sentiment on different timescales. The near-term decision still centers on price behavior around $1,050 and $1,000. A recovery through previous resistance would challenge the immediate bearish interpretation; a breakdown could extend selling pressure.
