Zcash price has rebounded approximately 2.6% to $1,184 on October 25, recovering from recent losses as traders prepare for the network’s November upgrade despite continued liquidations and weak technical momentum.

Summary
  • Zcash price rose approximately 2.6% to $1,184 on October 25, despite remaining lower for the month.
  • CoinGlass data showed $14.02 million in ZEC futures liquidations, mostly affecting long positions.
  • Technical indicators placed resistance near $1,214, with support around $1,175 and $1,100.
  • Zcash developers are preparing the NU7 upgrade for early November, introducing faster block confirmations.
  • Crowded derivatives positions and mixed institutional demand could complicate ZEC’s recovery.

According to crypto.news market data, ZEC traded between $1,120.66 and $1,223.01 over 24 hours, with trading volume near $575 million. The cryptocurrency gained 5.44% over seven days but remained 25.27% lower over the past month.

Why is Zcash price rising today?

Sunday’s recovery followed several sessions of volatile trading in which ZEC repeatedly struggled to maintain support around $1,200.

Although the token posted a daily gain, futures traders continued facing losses as prices moved across a relatively wide trading range.

CoinGlass data showed $14.02 million in ZEC liquidations over 24 hours. Long positions accounted for approximately $10.03 million, while short liquidations reached $3.99 million.

The imbalance indicates that traders betting on rising prices suffered most of the forced closures during the measured period, despite ZEC finishing higher in the latest price snapshot.

In the preceding 12 hours, liquidations totaled $1.57 million, including $893,770 in longs and $679,790 in shorts.

The figures cover overlapping periods and cannot be added together to calculate total losses.

On October 23, crypto.news reported a 12.45% decline in ZEC futures open interest to $2.37 billion. Futures turnover fell 10.28% to approximately $7.23 billion as traders reduced outstanding exposure.

Recent market estimates placed long positioning on Hyperliquid near 82.2%, although this platform-specific reading does not establish the direction of the entire ZEC derivatives market.

Zcash price prediction: Can ZEC reclaim $1,214?

Despite Sunday’s rebound, the daily chart continued showing resistance above the current trading range.

ZEC traded around $1,192.20 in the supplied technical snapshot, below its 20-day simple moving average of $1,213.77.

The Bollinger Bands placed the upper boundary at $1,343.38 and the lower boundary near $1,084.17. Trading below the middle band suggests that buyers have yet to regain control following September’s rally toward $1,700.

The Relative Strength Index stood at 46.92, slightly above its moving average of 45.82. The improvement indicates some recovery in buying activity, although an RSI below 50 does not confirm bullish momentum.

Immediate support lies around 1,175–1,180, followed by $1,100 and $1,084. A daily close below these levels could expose ZEC to another test of $1,000.

Conversely, reclaiming $1,214 would put $1,300 and $1,343 into focus.

Crypto analyst BitGuru identified resistance between $1,220 and $1,270 on the four-hour chart. The analyst warned that another rejection could send prices toward $1,140, $1,090 or $1,040.

Zcash NU7 upgrade approaches November activation

Beyond derivatives trading, investors are watching Zcash’s scheduled Network Upgrade 7, known as NU7.

The Zcash Foundation confirmed on October 22 that the upgrade will activate at block 3,543,405, expected around November 5. Its Zebra 7.0.0 release supports the new consensus rules.

As previously covered in October, NU7 will reduce the target block interval from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, allowing transactions to receive their first confirmation approximately three times faster.

The upgrade introduces a mechanism that temporarily reserves part of transaction fees for future block rewards. It does not alter Zcash’s 21 million coin supply limit or accelerate its scheduled daily issuance.

Node operators must install compatible software before activation to remain connected to the updated consensus chain.

The foundation’s deployment specification identifies the activation height, while the actual calendar date will depend on block production.

Privacy upgrades and institutional demand remain in focus

Zcash’s longer-term development plans include additional work on shielded transactions and protection against future cryptographic threats.

The Ironwood shielded pool upgrade introduced stronger supply-accounting protections earlier in 2026, following concerns surrounding the older Orchard pool.

Ironwood includes provisions intended to support future recovery if quantum computing threatens existing cryptography. However, the feature does not make current ZEC transactions quantum-resistant.

Institutional interest remains another part of the discussion. Earlier this month, Zcash ETF developments included a proposed spot fund from Winklevoss Asset Services, while existing ZEC investment products experienced mixed capital flows.

The proposal remains subject to regulatory review, and an application does not guarantee that a fund will begin trading.
