  • Grayscale has submitted its fourth amendment seeking to transform its Zcash Trust into a spot exchange-traded fund, targeting NYSE Arca listing with ticker symbol ZCSH
  • Digital Currency Group’s DCG International Investments is exploring non-binding negotiations to purchase approximately 200,000 ZEC tokens, valued at roughly $110 million

  • ZEC experienced a nearly 10% price increase within 24 hours, reaching the $555 trading zone

Grayscale Investments has submitted its fourth revision to the Form S-3 registration documentation for a Zcash spot exchange-traded fund with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. The investment vehicle would trade on NYSE Arca under the symbol ZCSH, effectively transforming the current Grayscale Zcash Trust into a publicly accessible trading instrument.

According to the filing, DCG International Investments Ltd., operating as a fully owned indirect subsidiary under Digital Currency Group’s corporate structure, has entered preliminary discussions to purchase roughly 200,000 ZEC tokens via the trust mechanism. Based on prevailing market valuations, this transaction would represent approximately $110 million in value. The negotiations remain non-binding at this stage, indicating the transaction could potentially be modified or abandoned.

The asset manager has not yet disclosed specific details regarding management fees or any potential fee reduction programs for this investment product. No official launch date has been established or communicated to the public.

ETF Structure and Operational Framework

The proposed exchange-traded fund would manage share creation and redemption processes predominantly via cash-based transactions. While in-kind creation mechanisms remain available as an alternative pathway, the revised framework explicitly prohibits in-kind redemption procedures.

This initiative represents a component of Grayscale’s expanded strategy to introduce altcoin-focused investment vehicles to the marketplace. The company has recently submitted regulatory filings for investment products centered on Avalanche, Hyperliquid, and Worldcoin.

The latest amendment also addresses the June Orchard security vulnerability, a critical technical issue that impacted Zcash’s privacy-focused shielded transaction infrastructure. The Ironwood protocol enhancement subsequently deactivated the vulnerable pool and implemented safeguards to prevent counterfeit token creation.

Market Performance and Trading Metrics

ZEC demonstrated substantial upward momentum with a nearly 10% appreciation over the preceding 24-hour period, with current trading activity concentrated around the $555 price point. Earlier session data indicated a 24-hour trading range spanning from $500.47 to $514.03, before advancing to elevated levels later in the trading day.

Transaction volume for ZCSH within its existing private trust structure has experienced a significant contraction since reaching peak levels exceeding $23 million in November 2025. The investment product has failed to surpass the $5 million volume threshold since June 2026.

According to data compiled by CoinGlass, open interest in ZEC futures contracts expanded by 1% to reach $928.22 billion throughout the past 24-hour timeframe. On the Binance platform, futures open interest contracted by 3.90%, whereas Hyperliquid registered a 9% expansion. Both OKX and KuCoin recorded positive movements of 3.40% and 2.18% respectively.

Market observers have identified $520 as an immediate resistance threshold following implementation of the Ironwood upgrade, with $550 representing a more substantial resistance zone positioned above current levels.

According to the latest available market data, ZEC maintains its position near the $555 valuation level.
