TLDR

  • The AAVE token gained 8%, momentarily reaching $187.50 before consolidating around $182.
  • A governance proposal suggests creating a Cayman Islands-based foundation to manage trademarks, domains, and intellectual property.
  • Token holders maintain complete governance authority; the proposed foundation has no voting or veto rights.
  • Technical indicators including daily MACD and 4-hour ADX suggest bullish momentum targeting $200.
  • Stani Kulechov, the protocol’s founder, revealed ongoing discussions about implementing a token burn mechanism for Aavenomics 3.0.

The AAVE token experienced an 8% surge on Friday, hitting an intraday peak of $187.50 before stabilizing near $182. This price action followed the unveiling of a fresh governance initiative by Aave Labs.

AAVE Price AAVE Price

The governance submission outlines plans for establishing a memberless foundation in the Cayman Islands. This legal structure would serve as the custodian for the Aave brand, associated trademarks, and intellectual property connected to the protocol’s technology.

Additionally, the foundation could manage primary domain names and IP ownership related to service contributors. The initial implementation phase focuses exclusively on establishing the entity and designating independent oversight through a director and supervisor.

Moving forward, any actual transfer of trademark rights, domain ownership, or code repositories would require separate governance approvals. The decentralized autonomous organization would cover establishment and legal expenses throughout this initial stage.

Stani Kulechov, who founded Aave, explained that this strategy would consolidate the protocol’s assets under unified token governance. He positioned it as a component of the broader “Aave Will Win” strategic vision.

Tokenholders Maintain Full Governance Authority

Under the proposed structure, the foundation would possess no voting power, veto capability, or advisory influence over operational governance. Token holders would continue making all decisions regarding asset listings, protocol parameters, treasury allocations, and service provider selections.

The community would retain authority to appoint or dismiss foundation directors via formal governance votes. Ultimate control over constitutional amendments, intellectual property disposition, and potential dissolution would remain with the DAO.

Quarterly transparency reports would be published by the foundation, detailing asset holdings and legal developments. This reporting framework ensures token holders maintain visibility into the entity’s stewardship activities.

Approximately $350,000 in short positions were liquidated across three trading platforms during the price rally. This upward movement represents a substantial recovery from levels near $60 observed in June.

Market analyst Crypto Patel shared an optimistic perspective on the price action. He noted AAVE has climbed 223% from its $57–$67 accumulation range and identified potential price objectives at $208, $355, and $1,000 for the 2026–2027 market cycle, citing a rounding-bottom technical formation.

Technical Analysis Suggests $200 Target

According to TradingView metrics, AAVE was changing hands at $181.66, representing a nearly 6% session gain. The trading session saw prices fluctuate between $170.77 and $187.50.

The daily MACD indicator maintained positive territory, with the MACD line positioned above its signal line. Meanwhile, the 4-hour ADX measurement increased to 40.62, signaling robust trend strength.

CoinGlass analytics revealed a concentration of liquidation orders positioned slightly above current market prices near $188–$189. Piercing this resistance zone could catalyze additional buying pressure as short sellers are forced to close positions.

On the downside, liquidation clusters appear near $178–$180 and $167–$168. These levels represent vulnerability zones where leveraged long positions could face liquidation during price retracements.

Trading analyst Michaël van de Poppe offered perspective on the current technical configuration in a recent publication. He observed that the present price structure resembles the formation preceding AAVE’s late-2024 advance toward $400, stating he would not find a comparable move before year-end surprising.

The positive price momentum coincided with announcements that Aave V4 integrated seven Coinbase-issued tokenized equities as collateral assets on Base network. The platform enables qualified users outside the United States to borrow USDC against tokens representing Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla shares.

Kulechov additionally acknowledged that implementing a permanent token burn mechanism remains under active consideration for the upcoming Aavenomics 3.0 framework. The protocol’s existing repurchase program operates with a $50 million annual allocation, though acquired tokens currently transfer to the DAO treasury instead of being permanently removed from circulation.
