Aero, the decentralised exchange formed from Aerodrome and Velodrome, is drawing attention for its share of tokenised stock trading. On October 10, @aeroxyz generated more tokenised stock volume than every other DEX on @Ethereum and its layer-2 networks combined. $AERO accounted for 57% of EVM tokenised stock volume on the day, and the platform has teased further announcements later in October. These figures have not been independently confirmed in the sources reviewed.

How Aerodrome built its tokenised stock lead

The result builds on activity that began on Base, Coinbase's layer-2 network. Crypto Briefing reported that Aerodrome opened trading pools for tokenised versions of Nvidia, Apple, Meta and Alphabet after the August 24 launch of Coinbase's tokenised equities, with about $103 million in volume in the following days. Each token carries a "c" suffix (such as NVDAc) and represents a 1:1 claim on shares held in regulated custody, according to the same report.

Later data showed the lead persisting. Crypto Briefing also reported that Aerodrome captured over 79% of tokenised stock volume on Base, handling roughly $176 million over a 30-day window. The outlet noted that the tokens are available only to non-US users. The AERO token rose about 11% to roughly $0.53 when the pools went live, per the same coverage.

The model behind this is Aerodrome's ve(3,3) design. Crypto Briefing described a flywheel in which more volume generates more fees, which attract more liquidity providers, which tightens spreads and drives further volume.

What the October 21 launch could change

The reference to bigger plans later in October lines up with the scheduled rollout of the combined protocol. MetaMask's AERO page states that the merger of Aerodrome Finance and Velodrome into the unified Aero protocol is due to go live on October 21, 2026. Day-one support covers Base, Ethereum Mainnet, OP Mainnet, Arc, Ink, Arbitrum and Robinhood Chain, and the page says the move aims to make Aero a central liquidity hub for a larger share of EVM spot trading volume.

That multi-chain reach matters for the October 10 claim. Earlier tokenised stock activity was concentrated on Base, while the October 10 figure compares Aero against DEXs across Ethereum and its layer-2 networks.

Concentration is a risk worth noting. KuCoin's summary of the Crypto Briefing report flagged that Aerodrome's dependence on a single product category and issuer is a point of exposure. Tokenised equities also remain restricted for US residents, which limits the addressable market for now.

Readers should treat single-day volume shares with caution, as they can swing sharply with incentives and new listings.
