Chainlink (LINK), which has taken many important steps in tokenization and is the preferred choice of institutional investors, has announced yet another partnership.

Accordingly, the Hong Kong Gold Exchange (HKGX), the world’s fourth-largest gold trading hub, is preparing to integrate Chainlink’s cross-chain communication protocol CCIP to enable the transfer of its physically gold-backed XGZ token across different blockchain networks.

Announced on October 27, 2026, the initiative is being carried out in collaboration between GoldZip and blockchain development company Midas Labs.

XGZ Token Will Be Traded on Different Blockchains

At this point, Chainlink will enable cross-chain transfers of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange’s gold-backed token.

According to Chainlink, the integration aims to enable the HKGX-backed XGZ token to move across supported blockchains beyond the existing Ethereum network. This will allow token holders to transfer their assets between different networks and give digital gold access to a wider blockchain ecosystem. However, the completion date of the integration and the scope of supported blockchain networks have not yet been announced.

The XGZ token, backed by physical gold, is issued by GoldZip, a token issuer affiliated with the Hong Kong Gold Exchange (HKGX). The token operates on Ethereum using the ERC-20 standard. However, it has been noted that the fact that the token is backed by physical gold does not mean that the reserves are independently audited or that all users will receive gold unconditionally.
