GenLayer (@GenLayer) is turning to Arbitrum (@arbitrum) $ARB for its token and public network after years of building alongside ZKsync (@zksync) $ZK. The AI-focused blockchain project says Arbitrum offers battle-tested public infrastructure for its next stage.

The team said its collaboration with ZKsync will continue on Prividium and enterprise projects. GenLayer's next development phase, Bradbury, is now live.

From ZKsync to Arbitrum

The shift marks a change from GenLayer's original setup. In January 2025, GenLayer announced the GenLayer Chain as powered by ZKsync, with its AI-driven contracts set to run across the Elastic Network. CoinDesk reported in April 2025 that the chain was powered by ZKsync, an Ethereum layer 2 solution, and had 1,000 validators, each connected to a large language model (LLM).

GenLayer's public documentation now reflects the move. A pull request in the project's docs repository replaces descriptions of a zkSync chain with an Arbitrum Orbit chain. It says consensus v0.6 runs on a custom-gas-token Arbitrum Orbit chain that settles to Ethereum, with GEN as the native gas token.

What Bradbury means for GenLayer

Bradbury is the project's latest testnet and a step toward mainnet. According to Stakely, it aims to coordinate blockchain consensus with AI models and non-deterministic inference in a decentralized network. GenLayer's own announcement says that during the earlier Asimov phase the team laid the infrastructure foundations, while Bradbury adds LLM inference.

GenLayer's pitch is a trust layer for AI-native applications. Its brand announcement describes Optimistic Democracy, a consensus mechanism in which validators powered by diverse AI models reach agreement through majority voting and escalating appeals.

The move gives Arbitrum another AI-focused project in its ecosystem, while ZKsync keeps a role in GenLayer's enterprise work. GenLayer's docs note that Asimov and Bradbury will keep their current endpoints until they upgrade to v0.6.
