BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes is staying neutral on whether AI stocks are about to tumble. In an X post, he said he would not bet either way and would instead trade the eventual multi-trillion-dollar bailout, going long Bitcoin and Ethereum.

The call came as CoreWeave, an AI cloud provider, plunged 15% after CNBC's Jim Cramer named it his only trusted AI cloud pick.

“Is AI finally going to dump? IDK but I wouldn’t bet either way. Instead just trade the eventual multi-trillion dollar bail out. Long BTC, ETH,” he wrote in his post.

Hayes bets on the bailout

Hayes' thesis rests on history. He believes every major technology rollout is overbuilt, crashes and then gets rescued. He expects the AI data center boom to hit that wall around late 2027 or 2028.

Authorities would then print more money than they did after the 2008 financial crisis, with Bitcoin absorbing the liquidity and rising to $1 million or more.

The idea has some precedent.

When the Federal Reserve more than doubled its balance sheet in 2020, Bitcoin climbed from under $5,000 to above $60,000.

That link has weakened lately. U.S. money supply hit a record in August, yet Bitcoin trades about 35% below its October 2025 peak.

The long-term thesis, however, remains intact in his view: the next major liquidity event will be triggered by an AI credit bust, and Bitcoin stands to be one of the primary beneficiaries.

ETH transfer draws attention

Separately, Arkham data showed Hayes has moved 8012 ETH, worth $19.35 million, to an unlabeled address.

He has sent $298.1 million worth of ETH between his own wallets over the past two years and $68.5 million to unlabeled addresses. He still holds $27.1 million on-chain, including $17.4 million of ETH and staked ETH.

However, there is no clear evidence of a sale, and the transfer could simply be a wallet reorganization.
