Key takeaways

  • Binance seeks Brazilian authorization before October 30 deadline
  • Twenty-two tokens lose trading access for local customers
  • Eight Binance services face restrictions under new rules

Binance has applied for a cryptocurrency service provider license in Brazil, but the exchange is simultaneously removing 22 tokens from local trading and restricting eight products as the country's new regulatory framework takes effect.

The application was submitted on October 23 through BBrasil Sociedade Prestadora de Serviços de Ativos Virtuais Ltda., according to an October 26 report by Portal do Bitcoin.

The filing comes one week before Brazil's October 30 authorization deadline, allowing existing operators that apply on time to continue serving customers under transitional arrangements while regulators review their applications.

However, applying does not mean Binance has received approval from the Central Bank of Brazil.

Binance Cuts 22 Tokens and Eight Products in Brazil

According to Binance's official notice, the restrictions take effect on October 27 and cover crypto lending, margin trading, Binance Pool, Cloud Mining, Launchpool, Megadrop, HODLer Airdrops and Alpha 2.0.

Brazilian users will no longer be able to open new positions in the affected products. Existing positions generally enter closure-only or reduction-only arrangements, with individual conditions varying by service.

Binance Loans customers can repay outstanding balances without additional penalties linked to the transition, while existing margin positions have no universal mandatory closure deadline.

The exchange is also ending local trading eligibility for 22 tokens, including USDe, TerraClassicUSD, MANTRA, Zilliqa, Ravencoin, Verge and Secret.

Other affected assets include DCR, DUSK, PIVX, BB, ONE, GMT, TFUEL, ONT, ACX, HIT, PYR, VANRY, VIC, ICX and STORJ.

Binance says customers holding the affected assets will retain access to their balances and can withdraw or use available reinvestment options after trading access ends.

The restrictions do not constitute a global delisting of these cryptocurrencies.

Brazil's Crypto Licensing Deadline Forces Binance Restructuring

The new requirements follow Brazil's central bank regulations, which established licensing, governance and operational standards for virtual asset service providers.

Binance is reorganizing its Brazilian operations around two local entities.

Binance Brasil Corretora will handle transactions involving Brazilian reais, while BBrasil will provide permitted cryptocurrency services. Customer migration is scheduled for completion by October 29.

The exchange previously secured a Brazilian brokerage foothold through its acquisition of Sim;paul, but that existing authorization is separate from the crypto service provider license now being sought.

The restructuring follows similar challenges in Europe, where Binance previously restricted services ahead of the European Union's MiCA licensing deadline.

Brazil's framework is separate, but both cases illustrate how exchange access increasingly depends on local regulatory authorization.

What Changes for Binance Users in Brazil?

Approved spot trading and supported stablecoin transactions remain available, while customers will continue using the existing Binance application and login credentials.

From November 1, international crypto transfers will require additional information about transaction purposes and counterparties.

Brazil has also introduced stricter transfer oversight, including separate anti-fraud controls for certain large cryptocurrency movements.

The country remains an important market for digital asset payments, including Binance's earlier integration with Pix.
