Binance Wallet has resolved one of the more persistent friction points in self-custody crypto: the need to hold a network's native token just to pay gas. The wallet now accepts USDT as a direct payment method for network fees, covering BNB Smart Chain, Ethereum, Solana, and TRON.
The practical effect is straightforward. Previously, moving funds on BNB Smart Chain generally required $BNB in the wallet, Ethereum transactions needed ETH, Solana needed SOL, and TRON needed TRX. A user holding USDT but short on the relevant gas token could find themselves unable to send funds they already controlled. That problem is now addressed for supported transactions on those four chains.
It is worth noting that the update does not eliminate the underlying blockchain fee. Validators and other network participants still receive the network charge required to process the transaction. Binance handles the conversion on the user's behalf, deducting the equivalent cost in USDT rather than requiring the native token upfront. Binance states in its support documentation that none of the network fee goes to Binance itself. The company calculates the fee based on current blockchain conditions at the time of the transaction.
The rollout on TRON comes with an additional incentive. Starting September 23, eligible users sending USDT and other TRC-20 tokens through Binance Wallet can receive zero gas fees entirely, under a campaign that runs through December 22, 2026. The offer is backed by TRON DAO and depends on available campaign spots, so it is not guaranteed indefinitely for every user. Once the promotional window closes, qualifying transfers shift to a discounted fee of 1 USDT per transaction.
Binance has confirmed that more blockchain networks will receive USDT gas support in future, though no specific rollout timetable has been provided. The feature is part of a broader series of updates to the wallet since it was rebranded from Binance Web3 Wallet in December 2024.
