U.S.-traded spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs witnessed renewed inflows on Wednesday, marking a sectoral pivot after a string of significant withdrawals that followed the recent elections. This change in fund flows comes as the market rebound continues, following a slowdown in redemptions earlier this week.
End of Withdrawal Streak
According to SoSoValue data, spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted $74.6 million, while spot Ether ETFs saw $53 million in new investments on Wednesday. This effectively ended a three-day streak of Bitcoin-related withdrawals that had totaled $1.16 billion. Similarly, Ether funds also closed a seven-day exit cycle amounting to $657 million.
The shift in fund flows coincides with a reduction in selling pressure earlier in the week. Bitcoin ETF withdrawals stood at $399 million on Monday, dropped to $116 million on Tuesday, and turned positive by Wednesday.
James Butterfill, head of research at CoinShares, remarked, “Bitcoin prices have largely priced in a strong election outcome for the Democrats; with the uncertainty dissipating, room for relief buying has opened.”
Divergent Fund Trends Persist
Data from Farside Investors highlighted divergent movements among various products. BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust recorded a $201.2 million outflow on Wednesday, bringing its four-day cumulative withdrawals to $935.2 million. In contrast, Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund posted $237 million in inflows, marking the day’s strongest entry.
Wednesday’s inflows played a significant role in narrowing the overall net outflows for Bitcoin ETFs in 2026, with year-to-date net withdrawals now shrinking to approximately $79 million.
Monitoring such ETF flows closely is essential for investors, particularly those interested in which funds are attracting investments and which continue to face redemptions. Tools like CryptoAppsy offer specialized news feeds and real-time charts, aiding in tracking market shifts efficiently.
Determining Price Drivers
Bitcoin rose above $80,000 on Wednesday, paralleled by gains in U.S. equities following the Democrats’ midterm election success. Nonetheless, market participants assert that attributing price movements solely to political outcomes may be insufficient.
CK Zheng, founder of ZX Squared Capital, noted, “Monetary liquidity, institutional investment flows, and risk appetite among investors hold more direct sway over Bitcoin prices.”
Zheng suggests that while spot Bitcoin ETFs and corporate Bitcoin accumulations could broaden the demand base, they also render BTC more susceptible to institutional selling pressures.
This scenario showcases that, despite a short-term recovery in the ETF market, fund flows continue to vary across products, and institutional demand does not proceed unilaterally. The sustainability of Bitcoin and Ether inflows will be closely scrutinized in the coming days.
