Bitcoin experienced a resurgence following fresh capital inflows into U.S. spot ETFs and remarks from New York Fed President John Williams. In Asian trading sessions, Bitcoin surged 1.5%, reaching $83,900, before settling at $83,450, according to Cryptoappsy’s latest data. Traders are now keenly awaiting U.S. inflation data due today and tomorrow, which could further influence market dynamics.
Robust ETF Inflows Signal Renewed Interest
Data from Trader T revealed that U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a net inflow of $175.62 million, reversing the previous session’s $65.4 million outflow. This positive shift underscores strong investor interest, with Fidelity’s FBTC fund leading the charge, garnering $103.06 million. Meanwhile, BlackRock’s IBIT and Morgan Stanley’s MSBT funds saw inflows of $65.89 million and $6.67 million, respectively.
“Despite the recent uptick, the net outflow for spot Bitcoin ETFs this month stands at $276.2 million, though year-to-date net inflows have reached $654.2 million,” a market analyst noted.
On the corporate frontier, Bitcoin reserve firm Strive announced a new financing initiative on Tuesday. Strive aims to raise $500 million by issuing SATS, a class of perpetual preferred shares at $100 each. The funds could facilitate further Bitcoin acquisitions, strategic asset investments, or stock buybacks.
Fed Stance and Market Reactions
John Williams’ acknowledgment of sufficient interest rate hikes until 2027 gave the dollar a slight reprieve, while spurring gains in Asian equities. Williams, however, conceded that another rate increase this year remains the most plausible scenario.
“The Fed’s stance aided the S&P 500 in recouping some of Tuesday’s losses,” market insiders observed, with S&P 500 futures climbing 0.2%.
In the cryptocurrency market, ZEC soared approximately 7% to around $1,270, with SOL and DOGE each advancing 2.5%, and Ethereum gaining 2% to reach about $2,520. Other digital assets like XRP, BNB, and HYPE witnessed gains between 1-2%, while TRX saw a slight increase below 1%.
Chip manufacturers in Asia rebounded strongly, ending a five-day losing streak. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix clawed back losses attributable to leveraged positions in crypto-linked chip stocks. The MSCI Asia Pacific index rose 0.7% after shedding recent gains, while key players like ASML and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing prepare to unveil financial results later this week.
Oil prices continued their upward trajectory amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, with Brent crude rising 0.7% to approximately $106 per barrel, as U.S. crude recorded gains for the fifth consecutive day.
The upcoming U.S. inflation report, pivotal for Williams’ interest rate outlook, could potentially nullify the case for further rate hikes this year. Such a development might set the stage for Bitcoin to retest the $87,000 threshold.
