US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded 189.3 million dollars of inflows on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. After 297.6 million the day before, the cumulative monthly total now approaches one billion dollars according to SoSoValue. A notable rebound, although a large portion of the capital continues to flow towards BlackRock’s IBIT.

In brief

  • US Bitcoin ETFs attracted 189.3 million dollars on August 18, after 297.6 million the day before.
  • BlackRock’s IBIT captured 143.6 million dollars, nearly 76% of the daily net flow.
  • Ether ETFs received about 71.5 million dollars in the same session.
  • The monthly cumulative of Bitcoin ETFs approaches one billion, with slight differences according to sources.

Nearly 487 million dollars in just two sessions

The return of capital is not limited to the session on August 18. The day before, Bitcoin ETFs had already attracted 297.6 million dollars, according to SoSoValue data cited by Cointelegraph.

In two days, inflows thus reach 486.9 million dollars. This represents a little over half of the approximately 951 million dollars recorded since the start of the month according to the same source.

Farside’s figures tell almost the same story. The platform records 297.5 million dollars on Monday and 189.3 million on Tuesday, or 486.8 million dollars in two sessions.

This rebound comes after three much less favorable days. Between August 12 and 14, the ETFs recorded about 248.4 million dollars of net outflows. The flows of the last two sessions have therefore largely compensated for this decline.

However, this is not enough to speak of a sustained change in trend. Two positive days are still too few to conclude a massive and established return of demand.

BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF largely dominates inflows

Once again, BlackRock occupies a central place in the rebound. Its iShares Bitcoin Trust, IBIT, received 143.6 million dollars on August 18. Fidelity’s FBTC is far behind with 23.9 million.

IBIT alone represents about 75.9% of the net inflows of the day. The recovery thus exists, but it remains strongly concentrated in a single product.

As of August 18, BlackRock also reported 48.44 billion dollars of net assets for IBIT. This figure does not correspond to the session’s flows but illustrates the weight now held by the fund in the US Bitcoin ETF market.

Ether also benefits from a return of capital, but in more modest proportions. Spot Ether ETFs attracted about 71.4 to 71.5 million dollars on Tuesday. Inflows on Bitcoin were thus about 2.6 times higher.

The billion approaches, but figures diverge slightly

For the whole of August, different databases do not give exactly the same total.

SoSoValue places net inflows around 951 million dollars as of August 18. On the other hand, adding the daily data published by Farside results in about 966.9 million.

The gap remains limited, around 16 million dollars. It may notably come from differences in updates or in the way some flows are accounted for. In the absence of a precise explanation, saying a cumulative “close to one billion dollars” is therefore safer.

The future will depend mainly on the duration of the movement. If inflows continue and start to distribute more among different ETFs, the recovery signal will gain credibility. Conversely, a quick return of outflows would confirm that it was only a temporary rebound.

For now, the session on August 18 mainly marks the return of capital after several difficult days. IBIT remains the main driver of the movement, while the symbolic billion-dollar threshold in August approaches.
