Key Insights:

  • Bitcoin faces 21- and 50-week EMA resistance despite trading near $77,232.
  • U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs drew $1.92B, their strongest week since October 2025.
  • Bitcoin broke its summer range, but 66K–67K remains a possible retest zone.

Bitcoin rally momentum is running into a major technical test after price climbed toward $80,000 during a strong weekly advance. BTC price traded at $77,231.62, while U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted $1.92 billion in weekly net inflows.

The buying marked the strongest ETF week since October 2025, when inflows reached $2.71 billion. However, Rekt Capital said Bitcoin still faces resistance around important long-term moving averages.

Bitcoin Rally Tests Key Weekly Moving Averages

Rekt Capital, a crypto investor and analyst, said Bitcoin has rallied into its 50-week exponential moving average, which is currently acting as resistance. The analyst said Bitcoin must reclaim that level as support to strengthen the case for further upside.

The analyst also identified the 21-week EMA as another level that has not yet been technically reclaimed. Both averages have historically acted differently across bullish and bearish market phases, according to his analysis.

A weekly close above the 21-week EMA would mark only the first part of that confirmation process. Rekt Capital said BTC price would then need to retest the level successfully and hold it as support.

Failure could resemble the early 2026 relief rally, which later returned to the broader downtrend. He added that BTC still forms macro lower highs despite the recent price recovery.

The 50-week EMA, therefore, remains another hurdle after Bitcoin moved above several shorter-term resistance levels.

Rekt Capital said both weekly averages need to become support before the macro lower-high structure is invalidated. Until then, he said, Bitcoin has not confirmed a new macro uptrend. The analyst also noted that the latest breakout remains technically unconfirmed.

Bitcoin ETF Inflows Reach $1.92 Billion in Five Sessions

While technical resistance remained in focus, institutional demand increased through U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs. The funds recorded $1.92 billion in net inflows during the week ending August 22.

Every trading day finished with positive net flows, creating five consecutive sessions of inflows. The total represented the strongest weekly inflow figure in roughly ten months.

The Farside Investors data showed Monday brought $297.6 million, followed by $189.3 million on Tuesday and $517.2 million on Wednesday. Thursday produced the largest daily figure at $606.3 million, while Friday added another $307.5 million.

BlackRock’s IBIT captured $503 million on its strongest day during the week. Fidelity’s FBTC, Bitwise’s BITB, and ARK 21Shares’ ARKB also contributed to the weekly total.

The BTC price rally also coincided with roughly 25% price gains during the same weekly period. SoSoValue data showed that U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF assets under management rose to approximately $96 billion.

Ethereum spot ETFs also recorded inflows of about $697 million during the week. The latest Bitcoin ETF total still remained below October 2025’s $2.71 billion weekly record.

$66,000 to $67,000 Area Remains a Retest Zone

Rekt Capital said Bitcoin broke above its summer range and cleared several lower highs over the past few weeks. The analyst also said that BTC price posted double-digit gains in August 2026, marking the first time it did so during a bear market.

Still, he identified the $66,000-$67,000 area as a possible post-breakout retest zone. BTC does not need to revisit that range, but the possibility remains open in Rekt’s framework.

Bitcoin also moved above the 200-week simple moving average during the latest advance. However, Rekt Capital said the price continued to be rejected by a separate lower-high resistance area. He therefore said the broader market structure had not materially changed at that stage.
