Bitcoin whale activity has returned to the spotlight after a long-dormant address transferred 2,931 BTC worth approximately $188 million. According to Onchain Lens, citing Arkham data, the wallet completed its first transaction in nearly eight years without sending funds to an exchange. The move occurs as Bitcoin trades around $64,000, attracting renewed attention from traders monitoring large BTC transfer activity.

Bitcoin Whale Returns With 188M BTC Transfer After Years
The Bitcoin Whale moved its entire 2,931 BTC balance from wallet “356my…BAsmK” to a new address identified as “bc1qn…8gp25.” The receiving wallet has remained inactive since receiving the funds, suggesting the transfer may be for storage or security rather than an immediate sale.
The same holdings were last moved on October 23, 2018, when Bitcoin traded near $6,475. Since then, the value of the assets has increased almost tenfold. Large movements from a dormant wallet often attract attention because they can precede strategic portfolio adjustments.
Bitcoin Whale Transfer Sparks Market Attention
Although the motivation remains unknown, analysts note the funds were not deposited into a centralized exchange. That reduces speculation about an immediate liquidation, although investors continue to monitor the address for additional activity.
Historic Bitcoin Whale movements have influenced market sentiment before. During Bitcoin’s record highs in 2025, several long-inactive holders transferred billions of dollars’ worth of BTC after remaining dormant for over a decade.
At the time of writing, Bitcoin traded around $62,756, down roughly 1.84% over the previous 24 hours. While the latest Bitcoin Whale transfer has not triggered direct selling pressure, on-chain participants will likely continue tracking the newly created address for any further movement.
