ETH Withdrawals Resume as Part of Phased Recovery

@Bitget restored $ETH withdrawals on September 29, the second stage of a carefully staged comeback after a security breach that forced the exchange to freeze all withdrawals five days earlier. The Seychelles-registered exchange restored Ether withdrawals at 08:00 UTC on Tuesday, September 29, marking the second stage of a phased restart that began with Bitcoin a day earlier, following a security breach on September 24 that froze customer withdrawals for four days.

ETH withdrawals were opened across the Ethereum, BSC, Arbitrum, Base, and Optimism networks on September 29 at 8 a.m. UTC. The $BTC reopening had preceded it by one day, with BTC withdrawals becoming available at 08:00 UTC on September 28 as scheduled, beginning a phased restoration of services after security checks across Bitget's withdrawal infrastructure.

The exchange was responding to a security incident that resulted in the transfer of approximately $387.5 million in digital assets to attacker-controlled addresses.Bitget says attackers exploited a third-party security product to obtain credentials and forge withdrawal commands.Bitget says its protection fund holds more than $464 million and that customer account balances were never altered.

Net Inflows Signal Retained User Confidence

Early flow data from the $ETH reopening offered a broadly positive signal for the exchange. As of 09:00 UTC, ETH inflows were approximately 9,674 ETH and outflows approximately 9,023 ETH, a net inflow of about 651 ETH in the first hour after the restart. Rather than a rush to the exit, the numbers suggest that a meaningful portion of users chose to keep funds on the platform, at least in the immediate aftermath of the reopening.

The recovery roadmap does not end with $ETH. USDT withdrawals are scheduled for September 30 across Ethereum, BSC, Solana, and Tron, with remaining tokens, fiat services, and peer-to-peer transactions set to resume on October 2.Bitget's technical team says it has fixed the vulnerabilities behind the breach and is running extra checks with help from Mandiant and SlowMist.
