BitMine has drawn renewed market attention after expanding its Ethereum treasury to roughly US$126 million. The move has sparked speculation that the company could qualify for inclusion in the Russell 3000 Index during an upcoming rebalancing period.

The U.S.-based public company has continued increasing its exposure to Ethereum amid the growing trend of corporate crypto treasury strategies. The approach has led some market participants to compare BitMine’s move with companies that previously adopted Bitcoin as their primary treasury asset.

Attention around BitMine intensified after several reports suggested the company’s market capitalization may be approaching the threshold required for inclusion in the Russell 3000, one of the largest stock market indexes in the United States tracking thousands of publicly traded companies.

Inclusion in the Russell Index is often viewed as significant because it can improve a company’s visibility among institutional investors. Companies added to the index may also benefit from additional capital inflows through investment products that track the Russell 3000 composition.

At the same time, BitMine’s decision to expand its Ethereum treasury reflects the broader acceptance of digital assets among public companies. While Bitcoin has historically dominated corporate treasury strategies, Ethereum is increasingly being viewed as an alternative with wider utility.

Ethereum is widely used across smart contracts, staking, and decentralized finance (DeFi) applications. These factors have led some investors to view ETH not only as a speculative asset, but also as part of a long-term digital asset diversification strategy.

Institutional interest in Ethereum has also continued to rise alongside the development of crypto-based investment products in the United States, including spot Ethereum ETFs that have recently attracted growing investor attention.

Still, crypto market volatility remains a major concern. Ethereum price action over the past several months has continued to show significant fluctuations amid shifting global market sentiment and institutional fund flows.

CoinMarketCal previously reported that BitMine’s US$126 million Ethereum purchase could strengthen the company’s chances of joining the Russell 3000. Similar reports from Yahoo Finance and BeInCrypto also highlighted rising market attention toward the company’s Ethereum treasury strategy.
