BitMine Immersion Technologies has increased its Ethereum treasury to 6.03 million ETH, putting the company within roughly 76,000 tokens of its stated ceiling of owning 5% of Ethereum’s supply. The Tom Lee-chaired company acquired another 12,532 ETH during the past week, lifting total holdings to 6,028,946 ETH as of October 11. Using BitMine’s reference price of $2,544, the position was worth approximately $15.3 billion. BitMine says its holdings now represent 4.9% of Ethereum’s 122.1 million-token supply. More precisely, the disclosed position equals about 4.94%, making the company approximately 99% of the way toward what it calls its “Alchemy of 5%” target. The latest purchase extends a weekly accumulation campaign that began when BitMine adopted its Ethereum treasury strategy on June 30, 2025.
The company held 6,016,414 ETH only a week earlier after buying another 15,112 tokens.
How Close Is BitMine to Its 5% ETH Limit?
At a supply of 122.1 million ETH, an exact 5% position would equal approximately 6.105 million ETH. BitMine therefore needs around 76,000 additional tokens at the current supply figure. That remaining position would be worth roughly $193 million at the company’s $2,544 reference price. Ethereum supply changes over time, so the precise number required to maintain a 5% position can also move. Chairman Tom Lee said at TOKEN2049 last week that BitMine intends to stop accumulating ETH once it reaches the threshold.
The 5% level is now being treated as a hard cap, creating a visible endpoint for a corporate buying program that has absorbed millions of ETH since mid-2025.
Investor Takeaway
BitMine is almost finished accumulating. Once the 5% cap is reached, Ethereum could lose one of its largest and most consistent corporate buyers.
Why Does the 5.07M Staked ETH Matter?
BitMine has staked 5,067,309 ETH, worth about $12.9 billion at its reference price. That represents roughly 84% of the company’s total Ether position. At the reported seven-day annualized staking yield of 2.61%, BitMine estimates its current position can generate approximately $336 million in annualized staking revenue. If the entire ETH treasury were staked at the same yield, the company projects annual rewards approaching $400 million. The scale has changed the economics of BitMine’s treasury strategy. Its ETH is not only an asset held in anticipation of price appreciation; most of it is now being used to generate recurring protocol rewards.
BitMine crossed 5 million staked ETH in August, after having just 1.53 million tokens staked at the beginning of the year. Some of the position operates through MAVAN, BitMine’s own validator network, alongside external staking partners. Staking can reduce the amount of ETH immediately available for trading, but it does not permanently remove tokens from circulation. Validators can ultimately exit staking, and BitMine retains ownership of the underlying assets.
Investor Takeaway
With 84% of its ETH staked, BitMine increasingly resembles a yield-generating Ethereum treasury rather than a company simply accumulating tokens.
Why Did BitMine’s Treasury Value Fall Despite Buying More ETH?
The company reported combined crypto, cash, marketable securities and other investments of $16.2 billion, down from $17.4 billion one week earlier even though it continued buying Ether. The decline largely reflects asset-price exposure. BitMine valued ETH at $2,726 in its previous weekly disclosure but used $2,544 on October 11. Its Eightco investment also fell in reported value from $117 million to $85 million, while cash and marketable securities declined from $643 million to $612 million. The balance sheet additionally includes 214 bitcoin, a $180 million investment in Beast Industries and the Eightco position.
What Does Tom Lee’s Bull-Market Call Mean for BitMine?
Lee argues that tokenization, artificial intelligence, generational wealth transfers and corporate digital-asset treasuries could support what he describes as potentially the largest crypto bull market yet. His outlook is necessarily a forecast rather than an operating result.
Lee has separately predicted ETH could exceed $5,000 by year-end, almost twice its current level. For BitMine shareholders, that creates unusually concentrated exposure in both directions. Higher ETH prices increase the value of a 6-million-token treasury and the dollar value of staking rewards. A prolonged decline does the opposite, as the $1.2 billion reduction in BitMine’s reported portfolio value over the past week illustrates even while the company continued adding ETH.
