@BNBCHAIN has quietly overtaken @trondao as the leading blockchain by stablecoin-holding addresses. According to Token Terminal data, BNB Chain now sits at roughly 79 to 80 million stablecoin-holding addresses, edging past Tron's 76 million.
USDT growth is driving the shift
The swing is largely a $USDT story. Holder addresses for USDT on BNB Chain grew 49% over the past six months, reaching 70.6 million, while Tron's base of 75.5 million has remained essentially flat over the same period. That divergence in growth rates is the clearest signal of where stablecoin users are increasingly choosing to sit.
The milestone is notable given Tron's long-standing position as the default rail for USDT movement. Tron's share of Tether's USDT supply has surpassed $90 billion, cementing its position as the largest blockchain for the world's biggest stablecoin, while processing approximately $4.2 trillion in USDT transfers so far in 2026, according to Token Terminal. In other words, Tron still commands the settlement volume. What BNB Chain has taken is the holder crown, a distinct but meaningful metric.
What the numbers do and do not show
Address counts are an imperfect proxy for users. They include bridged tokens and a single person can hold multiple addresses across chains. Even so, the growth gap between the two networks over six months is difficult to dismiss. The larger BNB Chain ecosystem, especially decentralized apps and on-chain liquidity, may benefit from the growing number of stablecoin users, since a larger stablecoin user base typically generates more opportunities for the whole infrastructure.
Tron's edge has historically rested on near-zero fees and fast settlement, making it the preferred network for high-volume, cost-sensitive transfers, particularly in emerging markets and for remittance use cases. While Ethereum remains the dominant chain for DeFi and institutional custody, Tron has carved out a distinct niche as the workhorse network for everyday stablecoin movement.
Losing the holder count lead does not erase that role, but it does mark a genuine shift in where stablecoin participants are choosing to hold. The stablecoin market is becoming more fragmented, with liquidity spreading across multiple chains rather than concentrating on a single network.
