BNB Chain protocol revenue surged 42% to reach $3.2 million on September 9, marking its highest daily level since October 2025. This significant increase highlights robust growth in fee-generating activity across the BNB Smart Chain, a blockchain network launched by Binance that enables decentralized applications and smart contract deployment.
BNB Chain revenue surpasses Bitcoin’s pace
The $3.2 million in protocol revenue represents a notable rise from $2.25 million recorded on July 31, during a period when Bitcoin traded at roughly $62,400. Since then, Bitcoin has risen approximately 26% to $78,400. However, BNB Chain’s protocol revenue grew at a much faster rate than Bitcoin’s price during the same period.
This latest figure stands about 19% above the network’s January 12 reading of $2.68 million. By comparison, Bitcoin trades 14% below its January 12 price level of $91,200, signaling that BNB Chain revenue is not simply following Bitcoin’s broader market trend.
Fee generation on BNB Smart Chain continues to advance independently from Bitcoin’s recent downturn, with network activity appearing to stem from increased participation within its ecosystem. Decentralized exchanges, token launches, derivatives platforms, and lending protocols all contribute to the network’s revenue. This uptick across multiple application categories points to renewed engagement regardless of Bitcoin price fluctuations.
Current BNB Chain protocol revenue stands at its strongest level in almost a year, driven by rising on-chain activity across DeFi applications.
At the time of writing, BNB, the native token of BNB Chain, was trading near $727.01 with 24-hour trading volume of $1,128,174,325. BNB gained 2.57% over the past 24 hours and 1.10% across the previous seven days, extending its recent upward trend.

Base network posts sharp revenue growth
The surge in protocol revenue extends beyond BNB Smart Chain. Base, the Ethereum Layer 2 network developed by Coinbase, reported daily protocol revenue of $1.02 million on September 9, a substantial rise from $347,000 on July 31.
This increase of nearly 194% over five weeks on Base outpaced the percentage gain seen on BNB Smart Chain within the same timeframe, pointing to broad industry momentum in on-chain fee activity.
Typically, higher protocol revenue signals more active use of decentralized exchanges, lending platforms, and token launchpads. Such activity may arise from both retail traders and larger holders, although current data does not specify which group is driving the current revenue growth on BNB Smart Chain or Base.
Higher protocol revenue on both BNB Smart Chain and Base suggests intensifying on-chain participation across key sectors like DeFi and token launches, regardless of broader market volatility.
Historical trends indicate that dominant activity from large holders can coincide with steadier price movement, while periods dominated by retail traders have, in some cases, overlapped with distribution from larger holders. However, current protocol revenue alone does not distinguish the source group on either network.
