Six of the eight exchanges in our price comparison trade Chainlink against the euro, five of them with their operator licensed under MiCA in the register of the European securities regulator. Measured on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at 12:40 p.m., Coinbase offered the best ask in the order book: 100 euros bought 9.8205 LINK there, against 9.8189 at Kraken and 9.8177 at Bitvavo, each before fees. The gap comes to three cents. What decides the outcome instead is the fee, and among the licensed exchanges it ranges from 0.15 percent to 1.875 percent.
LINK was quoted at 10.17 euros, or $11.34, at that moment, and with a market capitalisation of 7.61 billion euros it ranks 13th on CoinMarketCap. Over the past 30 days the price fell 20.7 percent. What analysts expect over the coming months is set out in our Chainlink price prediction; whether the current price is a good entry is examined in the analysis Is Chainlink a Good Buy at Current Prices?. This guide is about the exchange, the route and the costs.
Buying Chainlink in Germany: where LINK trades against the euro
Which exchanges run a euro pair for Chainlink was measured against the providers' public market listings. On October 27, 2026 there were six, among them Bitvavo, Kraken, Coinbase, Bitpanda and the Stuttgart Stock Exchange's BSDEX. Chainlink is therefore one of the tokens the Stuttgart Stock Exchange also carries.
MiCA has applied without a transition period since July 1, 2026. Licensed crypto-asset service providers are listed by ESMA in a register, which held 387 entries as of October 27, 2026. For the five exchanges named it shows:
- Bitvavo B.V., authorised by the Dutch AFM on June 26, 2025.
- Payward Europe Solutions Limited, the company behind Kraken, authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland on June 25, 2025.
- Coinbase Luxembourg S.A., authorised by Luxembourg's CSSF on June 20, 2025.
- Bitpanda GmbH, authorised by Austria's FMA on April 9, 2025.
- Stuttgart Stock Exchange: several companies in the group under BaFin supervision, among them Baden-Wuerttembergische Wertpapierboerse GmbH since July 3, 2025.
The register is public via the MiCA section of the ESMA website. How the licensed exchanges differ in fees, selection and handling is shown in our comparison of the best crypto exchanges.
Three order books, one minute: what 100 euros buys in LINK
For this guide the order books of Coinbase, Kraken and Bitvavo were queried at the same time and the amount for a 100-euro purchase at each best ask was calculated:
Exchange
Bid
Ask
Spread
LINK for 100 euros
Coinbase
€10.1722
€10.1828
0.104%
9.8205
Kraken
€10.1812
€10.1845
0.032%
9.8189
Bitvavo
€10.1815
€10.1857
0.041%
9.8177
Notable is the spread, the gap between the best bid and the best ask: Coinbase had the cheapest ask but at the same time the widest spread, at a good ten cents on 100 euros, because its best bid sat lower. A purchase only involves the ask; a quick resale involves both. Kraken and Bitvavo came in at three to four cents. Daily turnover in LINK across all venues was $269 million.

Best ask at Coinbase, tightest spread at Kraken: measured on October 27, 2026.
Fees when buying Chainlink: from the order book to the instant buy
In the order book you buy as a taker when you immediately accept an existing offer, or as a maker when your limit order waits in the book. With an instant buy you accept a displayed price, and the spread is inside it. The published rates for LINK on October 27:
Exchange and route
Fee
on 100 euros
Bitvavo, order book (category A)
0.25% taker, 0.15% maker
€0.25 or €0.15
BSDEX, order book
0.35% taker
€0.35
Kraken, order book
0.80% taker, 0.40% maker
€0.80 or €0.40
Kraken, instant buy
1%
€1.00
Bitpanda, instant buy
1.49%
€1.49
Coinbase, simple buy
1.875%
€1.88
The rates come from Kraken's fee schedule, Bitpanda's cost information document in version 3.0.0 of February 2, 2026, and the fee pages of the other providers. After the fee, 100 euros leaves 9.7931 LINK as a taker at Bitvavo and 9.7403 LINK in Kraken's order book. The best ask at Coinbase is only reachable through its advanced trading interface with an order book, where a separate schedule applies that Coinbase sets by trading pair and volume tier. The price advantage of three cents on 100 euros amounts to 0.03 percent and is therefore smaller than any difference between the fee rates; the simple buy at the same exchange carries the highest rate in the table.
LINK is a token on Ethereum: what that means for withdrawals
Chainlink is not a payment network of its own but a network of so-called oracles: it delivers data from the outside world, such as exchange rates or commodity prices, to smart contracts on blockchains. Many lending and trading protocols in decentralised finance read their prices through Chainlink. The LINK token pays for those services and serves as collateral in the staking of node operators. The technical documentation sits in the Chainlink docs.
LINK itself is a token following Ethereum's ERC-20 standard. Supply is capped at one billion, and according to CoinMarketCap 748.1 million LINK are in circulation, just under 75 percent. For withdrawals the standard is what counts: Bitvavo pays out LINK exclusively over the Ethereum network and charges 0.094 LINK for it, around 96 cents at Tuesday midday. The smallest withdrawal is 0.099 LINK, or about one euro.
The receiving address is an ordinary Ethereum address beginning with 0x. Any wallet that supports ERC-20 tokens can hold LINK, including all the common hardware wallets. Which devices we recommend for custody over longer periods is set out in the hardware wallet comparison.

LINK is paid out over the Ethereum network, at Bitvavo for 0.094 LINK.
Chainlink as a security: the route via an ETP
Anyone who would rather not hold LINK directly can invest through an exchange-traded product, an ETP that tracks the price and is bought through a securities account. The difference from a direct purchase, including on tax, is described in our piece on the first fund inflow into Chainlink. For a direct purchase with self-custody, the exchange remains the shorter route.
Minimum order for Chainlink: from 3.56 euros at Kraken
Kraken requires at least 0.35 LINK in the LINK/EUR pair, roughly 3.56 euros at the time of measurement. Bitvavo sets its limit at the equivalent of 5 euros. Because the withdrawal costs a fixed amount of just under one euro, it barely pays off on small sums: on 50 euros that is almost two percent, on 500 euros around 0.2 percent.
Tax on Chainlink: holding period, exemption threshold and staking
Gains from selling LINK are taxable in Germany under section 23 of the Income Tax Act if no more than one year lies between purchase and sale and the sum of all private disposal gains in the year reaches 1,000 euros. After more than a year the sale is tax free. Income from staking counts as other income and has its own exemption threshold of 256 euros a year.
A draft bill from the German Federal Ministry of Finance dated September 30, 2026 would abolish the one-year period for purchases made from January 1, 2027. The cabinet had not adopted it as of October 27, 2026. We track the state of play in our report on the reform of the crypto holding period, and your own calculation is handled by the CryptoTicker tax calculator. None of this replaces tax advice.
Three steps to buying Chainlink
- Pick a licensed exchange. Bitvavo, Kraken, Coinbase, Bitpanda and the BSDEX all carry LINK/EUR. Opening an account requires an identity check under anti-money-laundering law.
- Deposit euros and use the order book. A limit order just above the bid makes you a maker, which is the cheapest rate at any given exchange.
- Settle the custody question. Leave the tokens on the exchange, or withdraw several purchases together over the Ethereum network, at Bitvavo for 0.094 LINK.
For a larger amount the price comparison below is worth a look: it runs 1,000 euros of Chainlink through every exchange and every route, fees included.
