Crypto-Native Access to the World's Biggest Market
Bybit, the world's second-largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, has moved into the foreign exchange market with the launch of Forex (FX) Perpetual Contracts, a new product category on its derivatives platform. The exchange announced the debut of three pairs: EURUSDUSDT, GBPUSDUSDT, and USDJPYUSDT.
The three pairs are USDT-settled and track their respective spot exchange rates without an expiry date, giving traders continuous exposure to the world's most heavily traded currency pairs using crypto assets as collateral. Leverage of up to 100x is available across all three listings.
The contracts are designed to lower the barrier to forex trading for crypto-native users. For traders who already hold USDT or other crypto collateral, the products remove a layer of friction. Instead of moving funds to a traditional forex broker, passing through KYC again, and converting to fiat, they can open a EUR/USD position on the same platform where they trade Bitcoin.
According to the latest BIS Triennial Central Bank Survey, turnover in OTC FX markets averaged $9.6 trillion per day in April 2025, up 28% from $7.5 trillion in 2022. EUR/USD and USD/JPY are the two most traded currency pairs globally, while GBP/USD is closely watched around Bank of England policy decisions.
Part of a Broader TradFi Push
Bybit's FX Perpetuals are tradable around the clock, allowing users to respond to weekend macro developments, central bank statements, and geopolitical events without waiting for the underlying market to reopen. Positions stay open as long as the trader wants, subject to funding rate payments, with the contracts fully integrated into Bybit's Unified Trading Account.
The listings extend Bybit's TradFi Perpetuals suite, which launched in April 2026 and has since grown to more than 200 assets spanning global equities, commodities, ETFs, and pre-IPO names. Bybit is not the first crypto exchange to enter this space. Kraken launched forex perpetual futures in April 2025, and BitMEX has also offered similar products, but the move places Bybit among a small number of crypto-native platforms competing to bridge traditional and digital asset markets on a single account.
FX Perpetual Contracts can also serve as a currency hedging tool for traders seeking to protect portfolio gains against FX volatility. As with all leveraged derivatives products, FX Perpetuals carry liquidation risk and are intended for traders who understand margin trading.
