Cardano(ADA) held near $0.165 after the Van Rossem hard fork reached mainnet, but a move toward $0.20 still depends on stronger demand.
Key Points:
- Cardano activated Protocol Version 11, adding Plutus improvements and preparing the network for later scalability work.
- ADA must clear resistance near $0.17 and $0.18 before traders can reasonably target $0.20.
- Large-transfer activity remains subdued, although positive money flow suggests buyers have not abandoned the market.
Cardano Upgrade
Cardano enacted the Van Rossem hard fork at the Jul. 18 epoch boundary after the governance proposal reached ratification during Epoch 643 on Jul. 13. The upgrade moved the mainnet to Protocol Version 11 following approval from the required governance bodies.
The release adds Plutus capabilities intended to make smart contract execution faster and less expensive, while updating cost models used by developers. It also introduces ledger consistency changes, unique verifiable random function keys and revised rules for reference inputs.
Van Rossem is an intra-era upgrade, so it improves the current network without moving Cardano into a new development era. Its changes also prepare the protocol for the proposed Dijkstra era and Ouroboros Leios, a framework designed to increase throughput while preserving security and decentralization.

ADA Price Outlook
ADA traded around $0.165 on Sunday after recovering from support near $0.16, while the broader crypto market rose about 0.54% to $2.2 trillion. Bitcoin(BTC) remained above $64,000, Ethereum(ETH) traded near $1,860 and XRP(XRP) posted a modest gain.
The next technical barrier sits near $0.17. A firm four-hour close above that level could open a move toward $0.18, while a break there would put $0.20 within reach, an advance of roughly 20% from $0.165.
Momentum indicators remain mixed. The moving average convergence divergence reading is slightly positive, but narrow signal lines suggest the rally needs more volume, while a Chaikin Money Flow reading near 0.13 points to continued net inflows.
Large ADA transfers above $100,000 remain well below January’s peak of more than 200 transactions, indicating that major holders are cautious.
ADA must hold $0.16 to preserve the recovery structure, because a break below that support could expose $0.15 before buyers attempt another rebound.
Cardano has repeatedly paired network upgrades with expectations of stronger adoption, but technical releases have not guaranteed lasting price gains. ADA’s recent trading shows that resistance breaks require sustained volume and broader market support, not only protocol improvements.
