Cardano (ADA) has recorded a 68% decrease over the past year, according to data from CoinGecko. The cryptocurrency has experienced losses in its annual performance despite managing gains on shorter timeframes such as 7, 14, and 30 days. The one-year period stands out with the sharpest decline for ADA holders.

Between September 2025 and June 2026, ADA experienced a significant downturn, resulting in only one positive month, April 2026, out of a 10-month stretch. The downward momentum accelerated after the price dropped from $0.954 in September 2025 to $0.138 in June 2026, leading to a breakdown below the weekly 50-day moving average at $0.451. Since hitting these lows, Cardano’s price has attempted a recovery. Should September finish in positive territory, it would mark the third consecutive month of gains for the asset.

While the broader cryptocurrency market often associates October with optimism, Cardano’s own October returns have been mixed in recent years. In October 2018, ADA fell more than 17%, while October 2019 brought a 6.19% gain. In 2020, ADA declined 8.27%, followed by a 7% drop in 2021. October 2022 saw ADA down by 6.22%; October 2023 was up 15.35%. Losses returned in 2024 with an 8.82% decline and deepened in 2025 with a 24.42% drop.

Over the past eight Octobers, Cardano has closed in positive territory only twice, signaling that seasonal optimism alone may not translate into real price gains for ADA. For a sustained reversal, analysts point out that stronger trading volume and a clear shift in price momentum are needed, including the formation of higher highs and higher lows.

In the meme token market, technical patterns and timing play a similar role in shaping investor returns. An example came to light through Fomo App, which reported that a trade in “Niu Lai” transformed an initial $99 investment into approximately $370,000. This demonstrates that closely monitoring not just price action but also when and what tokens investors choose can lead to significant gains. Fomo App integrates discovery and trading for meme tokens, featuring social feeds, investor leaderboards, and real-time trade notifications, offering users a comprehensive way to track evolving trends and investor strategies.

Current market outlook

At the time of reporting, ADA had declined 3.22% in the last 24 hours, trading at $0.247 as bullish sentiment across the crypto market moderated after the previous week’s rally.

This week, investor focus turns to upcoming macroeconomic data releases such as the PCE inflation index, ISM manufacturing figures, and nonfarm payrolls. These indicators are expected to play a role in shaping forecasts on potential changes to Federal Reserve policy and could move both traditional and digital asset markets.

Mainnet updates and ecosystem developments

Intersect has highlighted that updating to Node version 11.1.2 remains the top priority for stake pool operators (SPOs) and node operators, while work on Dijkstra integration continues. Cardano Node 11.1.2, released on September 17, addressed a significant issue found during testnet operations. Although this version is not a hard fork-ready release, it is seen as a key step for early impact analysis and further network integration efforts.

The Cardano ecosystem continues to evolve with Haskell and Dingo already producing blocks on Mainnet. Amaru and Gerolamo are also progressing toward Mainnet block production, underscoring ongoing development and decentralization within the network.
