What to Know

  • Cardano (ADA) lost ground in six of eight Octobers despite its rebound from June’s low toward a third monthly gain.
  • ADA remains 68% lower over one year and trades beneath its 50-week moving average, making stronger volume important for recovery.
  • Cardano operators are prioritizing Node 11.1.2 while Dijkstra integration advances, although network progress offers no guarantee of October price gains.

Cardano (ADA) has lost ground in six of the past eight Octobers, challenging its attempt to extend a three-month recovery. According to data from CoinGecko, ADA remains 68% lower over one year despite gains across shorter trading periods.

ADA has risen across seven-day, 14-day, and 30-day timeframes, while September could become its third consecutive positive month. However, those gains have recovered only part of the value lost during a decline that lasted from September 2025 through June 2026.

Cardano fell from $0.954 in September 2025 to $0.138 in June 2026, recording just one positive month during that stretch. April provided the only monthly gain, while the prolonged decline pushed ADA below its 50-week moving average near $0.451.

At the time of writing, ADA traded around $0.247, down 3.22% over 24 hours despite its recent monthly recovery. Consequently, the price remains far below its September 2025 level and the moving average it lost during the sell-off.

Cardano’s October record provides another measure of the challenge facing buyers as they try to preserve the recovery. ADA gained 6.19% in October 2019 and 15.35% in October 2023, its only positive October finishes since 2018.

By comparison, October losses exceeded 17% in 2018 and reached 24.42% in 2025, the largest decline in that period. Cardano also finished the month lower in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2024, leaving six losses across eight Octobers.

Cardano’s October History Tests a Recovery Below Its 50-Week Average

Historical returns cannot determine ADA’s next move, but they offer little basis for assuming October alone will sustain the rebound. Instead, buyers would need to build on the gains recorded since July while defending the higher prices reached during September.

A sequence of higher highs and higher lows would provide clearer evidence that demand can support a longer recovery. Moreover, stronger trading volume would help show whether buying interest extends beyond the recent improvement in monthly performance.

The 50-week moving average near $0.451 remains relevant because ADA fell below it during the broader downturn. With ADA trading near $0.247, reclaiming that level would require substantial gains from the price reported on September 28.

Broader economic releases could also affect trading conditions as investors assess inflation and the outlook for interest rates. The coming reports include PCE inflation, ISM manufacturing data, and nonfarm payrolls, which could influence the wider crypto market.

Cardano Node Update Advances Alongside ADA’s Price Recovery

Cardano’s network work is advancing alongside the price recovery, giving operators another development to monitor. According to Intersect, stake pool operators and node operators should prioritize Node 11.1.2 while work on Dijkstra integration progresses.

Developers released Node 11.1.2 on September 17 to address an issue discovered on testnet and support early integration work. Although the version is not ready for a hard fork, Intersect considers it important for assessing potential network effects.

Haskell and Dingo are already producing blocks on mainnet, while Amaru and Gerolamo are progressing toward the same milestone. These updates mark progress for Cardano’s infrastructure, though they do not establish how ADA will perform in October.

Cardano enters October with a recovering price and a substantial one-year loss, making the durability of recent gains central. Buying volume and successive higher prices will offer clearer evidence than seasonal expectations about the strength of ADA’s rebound.
