@celestia's native token $TIA is surging, up 32% on the week and 28% on the day at the time of writing. The move outpaces gains in @Starknet$STRK and @injective$INJ, which have also posted strong moves.

The rally has no obvious single trigger. No significant announcements have been made by the project in the past week.

TIA leads the altcoin field

Market data points to a broader altcoin bid that Celestia is leading. Celestia (TIA), the modular data-availability network token, rose 16% to around $0.68, the biggest gain in the CD100 and a 2026 high , according to CoinDesk. The same report noted that injective INJ rose 7.7% and layerzero ZRO added 7.3% . The CoinMarketCap Altcoin Season Index rose to 60 from 50 , per Phemex's summary of the session.

Price tracker Coinfomania put TIA at $0.693914 on October 16, with a 24-hour price change of up 32.25% and a market cap of about $671 million . CoinDesk said the token has advanced about 59% over four weeks .

What may be behind the move

Several developments earlier this month may have helped sentiment, though none explains the latest jump on its own. According to CoinMarketCap, Celestia's Fibre system showed massive throughput potential in an experimental test, but mainnet usage remains minimal . The same source reported that Fibre sustained an average of 3.07 terabits per second in a 143-second benchmark across 120 validators .

CoinMarketCap also noted that Derive, an onchain options exchange, is migrating to Ethereum with its V3 upgrade and sending its state-reconstruction data to Celestia for data availability. It described the impact on token demand as dependent on how much data Derive ultimately publishes.

Celestia has also pointed out that the Fibre result was an experimental benchmark conducted on rented cloud infrastructure, not live mainnet throughput, according to CoinStats. Separately, an analysis from Bitcoin Foundation cited L2BEAT data showing that Celestia was using 0.16% of its data capacity as of September.

For traders, that leaves a gap between price action and network usage. Rallies that arrive without a clear catalyst can reverse quickly, and Traders Union has previously described a similar unexplained TIA move as technically impressive but fundamentally unconvincing. Readers should treat the current surge with caution and watch whether usage and fee revenue begin to follow price.
