@Coinbase is expanding access to its $cbBTC token on the @RobinhoodCrypto platform, using @Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) as the sole cross-chain bridge. The move gives Robinhood Chain users exposure to a Bitcoin-backed asset with a market cap above $7.5 billion.
The integration relies on Chainlink's Cross-Chain Token (CCT) framework, which allows $cbBTC to move across chains in a standardised, interoperable way. Unlike many cross-chain bridge models, Chainlink's CCIP leverages audited token pools to move value across different chains.CCIP routes messages and value between chains through a decentralised set of nodes rather than a single multisig or bespoke bridge for each pair of networks, a design that aims to cut operator risk.
Coinbase has tapped Chainlink's cross-chain interoperability standard to serve as the exclusive bridging solution for all Coinbase wrapped assets, including cbBTC, cbETH, cbDOGE, cbLTC, cbADA, and cbXRP, which together carry a cumulative value of approximately $7 billion.
Robinhood Chain, Robinhood's Ethereum-based layer 2 blockchain, has adopted Chainlink as its official data and cross-chain oracle infrastructure, powering the chain and all Robinhood-issued assets from day one.Chainlink's CCIP, Data Streams, and Data Feeds are live on Robinhood Chain mainnet, delivering verifiable data for tokenised real-world assets and unlocking secure interoperability across the multi-chain ecosystem.
The cbBTC expansion fits into a broader pattern of growing CCIP adoption. cbBTC volume on CCIP rose 278% quarter over quarter in Q2 2026.CCIP extended mainnet support for Robinhood during Q2 2026, while the Cross-Chain Token standard added 84 new tokens during the same period.
Josh Leavitt, senior director of product management at Coinbase, said the firm chose Chainlink because they are "an industry leader for cross-chain connectivity."
For Robinhood Chain users, the practical benefit is direct: access to a liquid, Bitcoin-backed asset without needing to leave the platform's ecosystem, with cross-chain security handled through an institutional-grade protocol.
