@chainlink's on-chain Reserve has crossed a fresh milestone, with total holdings reaching 6,047,498 $LINK after the protocol added 373,791 tokens during September, worth more than $4.3 million.
How the Reserve works
The Chainlink Reserve is a strategic on-chain reserve of $LINK tokens designed to support the network's long-term growth and sustainability. It is funded via Payment Abstraction, which programmatically converts off-chain revenue from enterprise adoption and on-chain service usage into LINK.Demand for Chainlink has already created hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue, substantially from large enterprises that have paid off-chain for access to the Chainlink Platform, and with increasing demand from a number of the world's largest banking and capital markets institutions, this form of revenue is expected to grow.
The Reserve is built on Ethereum with a multi-day timelock for transparency and security, and its growth can be tracked via an analytics dashboard at reserve.chain.link.Chainlink has stated it does not expect any tokens to be withdrawn for multiple years, meaning every dollar of enterprise and on-chain revenue converted into $LINK is effectively removed from circulating supply for the foreseeable future.
Rapid growth since launch
The Reserve was launched on August 7, 2025, as part of the Chainlink Economics 2.0 upgrades. It held 3.06 million $LINK at the end of Q1 2026, meaning holdings have nearly doubled over the course of six months. Early inflows averaged 80,000 to 90,000 $LINK per week in late 2025. By early 2026, weekly inflows had increased to between 125,000 and 137,000 $LINK, reflecting a roughly seven-fold increase in revenue sources since inception.
The accumulation is tied directly to real business activity, with contributing factors including growing enterprise adoption of Chainlink's infrastructure and institutional use of its services. The pace of inflows through September reinforces the trend, with the Reserve adding nearly 374,000 tokens in a single month.
