Charles Schwab stated that Avalanche’s positioning in real-world assets and institutional use cases could support a higher valuation for AVAX, despite its smaller market share.
Jim Ferraioli’s research highlighted the customizable blockchain infrastructure. Stablecoin issuance, lending, asset management, and liquid staking were cited as key examples of economic activity on the network.
The fundamental question for the organization was whether investors would focus solely on transaction volume or on the economic value and quality of the transactions. A stronger emphasis on the latter approach could make Avalanche’s institutional use case even more valuable.
The study reported that, based on September 7th data, Avalanche ranked fifth among smart contract networks with $3.4 billion in locked assets. However, it added that Ethereum did not yet have the sector standard status.
AVAX’s token economy was rated as above average. The maximum supply of 720 million, the burning of transaction fees, and the staking mechanism were cited as positive aspects.
However, Schwab noted that the network’s monthly transaction fees have been declining since 2023. A warning was issued that the growth of private networks may not increase mainnet usage and AVAX demand at the same rate.
On the valuation side, the ratio of market value to the total fees generated by the network was examined. It was noted that this indicator has varied between 200 and 1,200 times in the last three years.
