@CharlesSchwab has formally announced plans to expand its Schwab Crypto platform by making $SOL, $AVAX, and $LINK available for direct purchase and sale by clients in the coming months. The move broadens the firm's crypto brokerage offering well beyond its current lineup of $BTC and $ETH.

A Platform Still Finding Its Feet

Schwab Crypto began rolling out to clients in May 2026 and currently provides direct access to Bitcoin and Ethereum trading. The platform charges 75 basis points on the dollar value of each trade. The service is offered through Charles Schwab Premier Bank, SSB, a subsidiary of The Charles Schwab Corporation, and is available in all U.S. states except New York and Louisiana.

Joe Vietri, Head of Digital Assets at Charles Schwab, stated the additions align with client demand and the company's approach to providing access to cryptocurrencies with educational resources."Clients will have more choices to build a digital asset allocation alongside the investing and banking experience they know and trust at Schwab," Vietri said.

Expanding the Roster

The platform allows clients to view and trade cryptocurrency alongside traditional investments across Schwab.com, Schwab Mobile, and thinkorswim.Schwab plans to add additional cryptocurrencies and digital assets over time, though the company noted it may delay, modify, or withdraw support for any announced asset based on market, regulatory, operational, or risk-related developments.

The financial services giant manages almost $12 trillion in client assets, giving it a substantial built-in user base that crypto-native exchanges have traditionally lacked. The move places the brokerage in direct competition with Robinhood and Coinbase, both of which tend to serve younger clients.

Cryptocurrencies offered through the platform are not securities, are not FDIC insured, are not SIPC protected, and may lose value.
