Circle has stopped minting new USDC on Noble, the chain that has issued the stablecoin for the Cosmos ecosystem, and the first deadline for holders arrives next week. Cosmos is shifting to a version of USDC issued on Injective, the chain behind $INJ.

What changes on October 31 and January 12

According to Coinpaprika, Circle disabled new USDC minting on Noble on October 13, 2026, and will pause the Noble USDC contract on January 12, 2027. The staged timeline has burn limits shrinking from October 31, and exit routes narrowing after December 1.

The October 31 date matters because it affects the older transfer system. Blockonomi reports that CCTP V1 burn limits on Noble start shrinking on that date and reach zero on a rolling basis as the January deadline approaches. CCTP is Circle's Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol.

The reason is technical. Circle is moving to CCTP V2, and Noble will not receive it, according to Coinpaprika. The change ends USDC's legacy infrastructure on Noble rather than a withdrawal from Cosmos. Noble itself is not shutting down, edgeX notes.

Injective USDC becomes the Cosmos standard

Crypto Briefing reports that Cosmos Hub, dYdX and the routing layer Skip:Go have signed on, making Injective USDC the canonical stablecoin standard across chains that previously relied on Noble for issuance.

Holders can swap Noble USDC, now displayed as USDC.n, for Injective-issued USDC, or USDC.inj, through Skip:Go. CryptoSlate reported that migration opened on September 11. The same report put the affected amount at roughly $92 million in USDC. DeFiLlama data cited by edgeX showed about 91.6 million USDC circulating on Noble as of September 11.

Holders who miss the deadlines still have a backstop, but it is narrower. Circle plans to take a snapshot of remaining balances on January 12 and open manual redemption the next day. BitRss, republishing CryptoSlate, said eligibility requires the USDC to be in a wallet controlled by the user and that holders pass Circle's compliance and security checks. USDC left in liquidity pools or smart contracts at the snapshot will not qualify, so protocol-level migration is more urgent than the January date suggests.

Cosmos Labs has urged holders to migrate before October 31 rather than wait for January, Coinpaprika reports.
