Two gold-colored physical Bitcoin coins on a United States hundred-dollar bill

The Binance Hack did not print as a two-and-a-half-hour slide. The chain posts put a large debit at 20:24:23 UTC on Thursday 29 October 2026. The price posts that followed put the low inside the first half hour. Near the two-hour mark, separate accounts still had Bitcoin under $79,000 or at $79,000, below the $80.8k figure from the first hour and off the low those same posts had already printed. A desk that books "down for two and a half hours" as one straight move will mis-time both the liquidation burst and the later mark.

The coins did not share one percent, which is the fact a single-coin note cannot show. At 20:56 UTC, Coin Bureau's board had XRP down 6.1% and Solana down 5.5%, against Bitcoin down 2.8% and Ether down 4.0%. At 21:27 UTC, one snapshot had BNB down 6.2%, wider than Bitcoin's 2.4% over 24 hours and Ether's 3.7% on those same lines. The coin-by-coin records are the Bitcoin price after the Binance Hack, the Ether price after the Binance Hack, and the BNB price after the Binance Hack. This piece is the board. I lined the posts up by the clock on each post. Where the numbers disagree, they stay disagreeing.

This article records the move that already happened. It is not a price prediction.

The prints, by the clock

  • @Nebraskangooner at 20:51 UTC: Bitcoin from $80.8k to $78.8k, Ether from $2,335 to $2,255, in the prior hour. About $2.77 billion across five chains. Unconfirmed.
  • @coinbureau at 20:56 UTC: over $70 billion wiped out of the crypto market "today," total market cap $2.62 trillion, over $600 million liquidated in one hour. Bitcoin $78,979, down 2.8%. Ether $2,262, down 4.0%. XRP $1.24, down 6.1%. Solana $96.66, down 5.5%.
  • @Dominikz177 at 21:27 UTC, clocked by that post as 5:20 p.m. ET: Bitcoin $79,381, down 2.4% over 24 hours. Ether $2,279, down 3.7%. BNB $711, down 6.2%. XRP $1.25, down 5.9%. Solana $97.37, down 5.3%. Total cap about $2.68 trillion, down 4.9%.
  • @TheBitcoinConf at 22:06 UTC: Bitcoin slips below $79,000. @3orovik at 22:13 UTC: Bitcoin still at $79,000.
  • Outflow posts in the same window do not agree: about $2.53 billion, about $2.77 billion, $2.8 billion, $4.69 billion over three hours, over $5.6 billion, and $5.7 billion. Those are wallet figures. They are not the price.

The low printed in the first half hour

@Nebraskangooner at 20:51 UTC, about 27 minutes after the 20:24:23 debit, labeled the outflow unconfirmed: about $2.77 billion across five chains, reportedly through a contract call funded by Tornado Cash. The market, he wrote, was "already reacting in the last hour." Bitcoin from $80.8k to $78.8k, Ether from $2,335 to $2,255. No BNB, Solana, or XRP on that post, and no claim that the move ran for two and a half hours.

@coinbureau at 20:56 UTC is the first board here that prices four coins. Over $70 billion "wiped out of the crypto market today," cap $2.62 trillion, and over $600 million liquidated in one hour. Bitcoin $78,979, down 2.8%. Ether $2,262, down 4.0%. XRP $1.24, down 6.1%. Solana $96.66, down 5.5%. "Today" is not "since 20:24." The $70 billion is a whole-day line sitting next to a one-hour liquidation. Using it as the size of the half hour would edit the sentence.

@Dominikz177 at 21:27 UTC calls his block a 5:20 p.m. ET snapshot. Bitcoin $79,381, down 2.4% over 24 hours, range $78.5k to $81.8k. Ether $2,279, down 3.7%. BNB $711, down 6.2%. XRP $1.25, down 5.9%. Solana $97.37, down 5.3%. Dogecoin $0.0763, down 5.1%. He flags Hyperliquid's token as the only large coin still up, $93.56, up 15.1%. Cap about $2.68 trillion, down 4.9%, Bitcoin dominance 59.5%. The 24-hour label is on the Bitcoin line. It is not printed on every line. @SwiatKrypto at 21:33 UTC wrote that Bitcoin had bounced from $78,280 to $79,400. That pair is near the other two Bitcoin prints and it is not either of them. A bounce inside the first hour is why a straight two-and-a-half-hour fall does not describe the posts.

Harley Lewis Foote, threading at 22:12 UTC, put the low at 20:47 UTC on a one-minute wick, from the 20:00 open: BNB down 9.1%, Ether down 4.5%, Bitcoin down 3.2%. The same thread lists those lows as Bitcoin 78,210, Ether 2,230, and BNB 677.8. He wrote that BNB was already down 1.4% by the earliest public flag he found, 20:32:51 UTC, while Bitcoin and Ether were still flat. From 20:24 to 21:24 he counts $570 million liquidated, 94% longs, peak minute 20:47 at $140 million, on a CoinGlass stream of 10 venues he says under-report. Coin Bureau's line is over $600 million in one hour. Dominik restates $600 million plus in 30 minutes. Three windows. This piece does not average $570 million with $600 million. The shared fact is the clock: the damage these posts describe is in the first half hour.

What the venue and the issuers wrote while prices were printing

Spot prices kept printing after the withdrawal posts went up. A cash-equity halt stops the print. Here the books did not. The price path and the venue status are different objects, and a two-and-a-half-hour drop does not describe the second one.

@KobeissiLetter at 21:14 UTC said Tether had frozen $971 million of USDT, "just minutes after Binance wallets saw a $2.8 billion outflow across five blockchains," and that Binance had yet to comment. At 21:20 UTC the same account said Binance had responded and attached a screenshot. @WatcherGuru at 21:27 UTC quotes that statement: the team was investigating, and "at this stage, we have not confirmed any impact to user funds." That is those accounts quoting a statement. It is not the @binance post opened next.

Changpeng Zhao at 21:15 UTC wrote: "User funds are safe! It does look like a hack on Binance. Appreciate the quick freeze from Tether (~$971m) and Circle (~$823m). I don't manage Binance (.com) anymore, but as a shareholder, I expect all user funds will be fully covered." That "hack" sentence is his. It is not on the @binance posts opened for this piece. Yi He at 21:17 UTC said the team was investigating, warned against unofficial links and requests for account information, and closed with "User Funds SAFU." Jeremy Allaire at 21:18 UTC: Circle had frozen more than 800 million USDC, with law enforcement. Paolo Ardoino at 21:25 UTC: Tether froze more than 1.567 billion USDT related to a potential Binance exchange hack.

The issuer numbers do not sit in one ledger. Zhao's pair is about $971 million and about $823 million. Ardoino's later line is more than 1.567 billion USDT. Allaire's is more than 800 million USDC. @WatcherGuru at 21:29 UTC said Tether had now frozen $1.5 billion. @coinbureau at 21:39 UTC said the two issuers had frozen over $2.3 billion combined. Yi He at 22:08 UTC thanked Ripple for freezing approximately 200 million, without naming the asset, and at 22:22 UTC thanked World Liberty Financial for $27 million of USD1 and 48 million WLFI, about $2 million. Averaging those posts would invent a total nobody published.

@binance at 21:29 UTC: "User funds are completely safe," while the team investigated a potential security issue, and users should not trust unofficial links or requests for account information. That post does not say "not confirmed." The quotation posts do not say "completely safe." At 22:15 UTC, still inside the window, @binance said security checks were on and withdrawals would resume once the issue was fully resolved, and that user funds remain safe. Yi He at 22:22 UTC said withdrawals were currently disabled. Prices did not stop for that switch. @TheBitcoinConf at 22:06 UTC: Bitcoin slips below $79,000. @3orovik at 22:13 UTC: Bitcoin still at $79,000. The forward claim in that post is not used here.

Zhao at 22:23 UTC answered @0xngmi, who had put assets under custody at 144 billion and the loss, after the freezes, at around 1 billion, or 0.69% of that figure. Zhao: "Loss might be a bit higher than that, but will cover." The 144 billion and the 0.69% belong to the post he answered, not to a Binance filing. @KobeissiLetter at 22:25 UTC paraphrased him as losses over $1 billion that the company will cover. The words on his account are the shorter sentence.

Wallet totals are not the price drop

The smaller outflow cluster is restated so the later totals are not treated as a correction of it. Nebraskangooner: about $2.77 billion across five chains. Kobeissi at 21:14 UTC: a $2.8 billion outflow. Dominik: a reported $2.53 billion. Harley's opener: $2.53 billion in one transaction at 20:24:23 UTC, and about $3.7 billion from three Ethereum hot wallets at 20:24 prices, approximate. He also wrote that reported totals he had seen ran from $2.38 billion to $3.55 billion. The transfer itself is in the FinanceFeeds wallet note, not a second price path.

A later cluster uses harder verbs. @WatcherGuru at 21:42 UTC wrote over $5.6 billion stolen: $1.45 billion bitcoin, $875 million ether, $234 million TRX, $50 million XAUT, $1.57 billion USDT, $823 million USDC, $75 million WBETH, $88.5 million RLUSD, and $447.5 million more. @KobeissiLetter at 21:58 UTC wrote $5.7 billion of outflows across Ethereum, Bitcoin, and TRON, including $1.45 billion of bitcoin and $875 million of ether, "if confirmed." "Stolen" is Watcher.Guru's word. "If confirmed" is Kobeissi's. Zhao's "it does look like a hack" and the exchange's "potential security issue" are softer. None of those lines is the $2.53 billion line.

Julio Moreno of CryptoQuant at 22:20 UTC, one hour and 56 minutes after the debit: "$4.69 billion in outflows in the last three hours, on assets that we track." USDT on ERC-20 $1.7 billion, 4.8% of USDT reserves. Bitcoin $1.46 billion, 2.7% of bitcoin reserves. USDC $0.8 billion, 19.9% of USDC reserves. Ether $0.5 billion, 6.9% of ether reserves. SAFU, he wrote, was about $1.2 billion, "almost enough to cover BTC outflows for example." Three hours back from 22:20 is 19:20, before the 20:24 debit. His window is not the price window, and his number is not a traded percent.

Set his 2.7% of bitcoin reserves next to Coin Bureau's Bitcoin price, down 2.8% on a "today" board. The percents are almost the same size and they are not the same fact. A reserve share does not explain XRP at 6.1%, Solana at 5.5%, or BNB at 6.2% on the later snapshot. The wider traded percents sat on coins the early outflow sentences were not leading with. The market did not reprice as one beta to the wallet total. Moreno's $1.2 billion SAFU figure is his, set against his own $1.46 billion bitcoin line, which is why he wrote "almost enough" for that line only. Yi He's "User Funds SAFU" adds no holdings number. What that fund was built to hold is a separate document. Thursday's posts do not replace it.

Two market-cap lines, and a chart that is not those lines

Coin Bureau at 20:56 UTC: $70 billion wiped "today," cap $2.62 trillion. Dominik at 21:27 UTC: cap about $2.68 trillion, down 4.9%. The caps are about $60 billion apart, and only one of those posts prints a percent. @Borg_Cryptos at 21:57 UTC wrote that $80 billion was erased in 15 minutes. Three numbers, three clocks. They do not become one wipe.

Dominik's Fear and Greed reading of 51, Neutral, is labeled on his post as measured before the dump. It cannot describe the hour after 20:24. His funding line, Bitcoin 0.003% and Ether 0.004%, is his note that leverage was cooling. It is not a liquidation total. Harley wrote that a Nasdaq dip at 20:00 UTC lined up with about 0.9 points of his own 3.2% Bitcoin fall from the 20:00 open to the 20:47 wick. That split is his. It is not a split of Coin Bureau's 2.8% or of the $80.8k to $78.8k post. A technology-stock move and a hot-wallet scare can share a clock. This piece does not award the board to one of them.

The figure below is a fourth measurement, and it is labeled as one. It is Binance spot, five-minute closes, five pairs, indexed to the 20:20 UTC close. That close is the last five-minute close before the 20:24:23 debit. The lines stop on the bar that opens at 22:50 UTC, which is the bar that contains 22:54 UTC, two and a half hours after the debit. These are exchange closes. They are not the X prints above. A five-minute close can miss a wick, which is why Harley's 20:47 one-minute lows and these bars are allowed to disagree.

Percent change in Bitcoin, Ether, BNB, Solana and XRP on Binance five-minute closes after the Binance Hack Percent from the 20:20 UTC close, Binance five-minute bars, 29 October 2026. Marks at 20:24 UTC and 22:54 UTC. These are exchange closes. The percents in the prose are the X posts.

The lines are closes, so they miss wicks. The 20:45 bar's low was 2.56% under the 20:20 close for Bitcoin, 3.63% for Ether, 7.77% for BNB, 4.35% for Solana, and 3.78% for XRP. That low is not the line. The 22:50 close, on the bar that contains 22:54 UTC, was still down: Bitcoin $78,982.67, or 1.71%, Ether 1.83%, BNB 4.46%, Solana 2.37%, and XRP 2.01%. No X post opened for this piece prints a price at 22:54. The late price posts are 22:06 and 22:13 UTC, both near $79,000. This close sits beside those posts. It is not one of them.

What the posts already let a desk check

Nothing in this section is a later price. The checks are documents and switches that the Thursday posts already named.

Withdrawals. The 22:15 UTC exchange post says they resume once the security issue is fully resolved, and that user funds remain safe. Yi He at 22:22 UTC wrote that withdrawals were currently disabled until the environment was confirmed secure. The posts agree the switch was off. They do not say when it goes back on. "Completely safe" at 21:29 UTC and "withdrawals disabled" at 22:22 UTC are both on the record.

The 21:29 UTC exchange post and Yi He's 21:17 UTC post both say not to trust unofficial links or requests for account information. That warning does not depend on which outflow total is right. On freezes, use the issuer posts: Ardoino's more than 1.567 billion USDT, Allaire's more than 800 million USDC. Zhao's earlier pair, Coin Bureau's later combined $2.3 billion, Yi He's approximately 200 million thanked to Ripple, and her USD1 and WLFI lines are other posts. A blended freeze total is not one of them. The insurance and solvency documents are a further file. Thursday's posts do not update it.

Zhao at 21:15 UTC expects users to be fully covered, and says he no longer manages Binance.com. At 22:23 UTC the loss "might be a bit higher" than the roughly 1 billion he was answering, "but will cover." That is not a payout list. Harley wrote that a Binance loss total was not out yet. Kobeissi at 21:58 UTC still had "if confirmed" on $5.7 billion. The low was in the first half hour, and later posts in the window still had Bitcoin under or at $79,000.

Questions the posts actually answer

Did the crypto market fall for the whole two and a half hours after the Binance Hack?

The posts do not show a straight fall from 20:24 UTC to 22:54 UTC. Nebraskangooner at 20:51 UTC already had Bitcoin from $80.8k to $78.8k and Ether from $2,335 to $2,255. Harley's thread puts the low at 20:47 UTC. SwiatKrypto at 21:33 UTC wrote that Bitcoin had bounced from $78,280 to $79,400. Later posts still had Bitcoin below or at $79,000. Down inside the window, and off the low before the window ended, are both in the record.

Which prices were posted, and which percent goes with which coin?

Use one post at a time. Coin Bureau at 20:56 UTC: Bitcoin $78,979, down 2.8%; Ether $2,262, down 4.0%; XRP $1.24, down 6.1%; Solana $96.66, down 5.5%. Dominik at 21:27 UTC: Bitcoin $79,381, down 2.4% over 24 hours; Ether $2,279, down 3.7%; BNB $711, down 6.2%; XRP $1.25, down 5.9%; Solana $97.37, down 5.3%. Those percents are not the same clock. They are not averaged in this piece.

How large was the Binance Hack?

The posts do not agree, and the exchange account did not publish a loss total. Lines include about $2.53 billion, about $2.77 billion, $2.8 billion, Moreno's $4.69 billion over three hours, Watcher.Guru's over $5.6 billion stolen, and Kobeissi's $5.7 billion if confirmed. Zhao wrote that it looks like a hack, and that the loss might be a bit higher than the roughly 1 billion he was answering.

Did Binance say user funds were safe?

The exchange post at 21:29 UTC says user funds are completely safe. The 22:15 UTC post says they remain safe while checks continue. Quotation posts at 21:20 and 21:27 UTC carry a statement that impact had not been confirmed. Zhao said funds are safe and that it does look like a hack. Yi He wrote "User Funds SAFU" and later that withdrawals were disabled. Those are different sentences.

Were withdrawals still open while prices were falling?

Not according to the later official posts. At 22:15 UTC @binance said withdrawals would resume once the security issue was fully resolved. At 22:22 UTC Yi He wrote that withdrawals were currently disabled until the environment was confirmed secure. Spot prices were still being posted through that window. A withdrawal pause and a traded price are not the same event.

Does any of this say where Bitcoin or Ether goes next?

No. The posts used here are timestamps and figures from Thursday 29 October 2026. The five-minute chart stops on the bar that contains 22:54 UTC. Coverage sentences from Zhao are his sentences about making users whole, not a traded target. A Fear and Greed print of 51 was labeled as measured before the dump. This article records the move that already happened.

This is not financial advice.
