Crypto Lobby Controversy: Dubey's Claims and Binance Hack News

A major security breach at Binance, the world’s biggest crypto exchange, has shocked investors this week.

Soon after, MP Nishikant Dubey made a strong political claim about a “crypto lobby” and global regime change movements. This has started a new crypto lobby controversy in India.

What MP Nishikant Dubey Said

In a post on X, MP Nishikant Dubey said that the crypto lobby is damaging the global economy and organizing regime change movements across the world.

Nishikant Dubey statement

He also asked a direct question: is the crypto lobby in India running a similar movement? The text of the post also says that about 60 thousand crore rupees vanished from Binance a day earlier.

It is important to understand one thing here. This is a political allegation and a question, not a finding from any investigation.

No official source reviewed for this report supports the regime change claim, and none of the exchange’s own announcements mention politics at all.

What the Exchange Officially Confirmed

The company has published three official updates. According to its second update, the company’s hot wallets were compromised at around 20:05 UTC on 29 October 2026, causing a loss of about 6.3 billion US dollars in token assets.

In its first update, the company said the early investigation points to a compromised laptop of a DevOps engineer.

Through it, an attacker reached a service container and submitted unauthorized withdrawal requests.

The company also said it found no evidence of a wallet private key leak. It also listed the steps it took right away.

It revoked the affected address authorization, paused withdrawals while security checks continued, and brought in law enforcement and blockchain intelligence partners to trace the stolen assets.

It clarified that deposits and other unaffected services kept running normally. Its second update added that later checks had found more points of breach beyond the laptop, so the picture is still developing.

Here is a quick summary of the official timeline:

Date

Official update

Key points

30 Oct 2026

Security Incident Update

Estimated impact about 6.3 billion dollars; about 3 billion frozen; withdrawals paused; deposits unaffected

30 Oct 2026

Update #2

More than 6.34 billion dollars set aside; about 80% covered; further points of breach found

31 Oct 2026

Recovery Update #3

90% replenished; ten major tokens fully backed; withdrawals targeted for 1 November

Is It Really 60 Thousand Crore Gone?

The figure being shared in India is not far from reality in size. At common exchange rates, 6.3 billion dollars comes to roughly 55,000 to 60,000 crore rupees, though the exact number changes with the rupee rate.

However, the word “vanished” can mislead readers. The money was stolen in a hack, and Binance says its users will not bear the loss.

As per the first announcement, about 3 billion dollars has already been frozen on the blockchain with the help of partners.

The company also said that user funds are safe and that it will cover all losses from its SAFU fund and its own money.

These are company statements, and the independent proof is still being prepared, so readers should treat them as official claims until the proof is published.

How the Company Plans to Protect Users

The latestRecovery Update  explains the steps in detail. The company said it has replenished 90% of the affected amount and that Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, BNB, Solana, USDC, XRP, USD1, RLUSD, and ZEC are now fully backed. The remaining 10% belongs to less liquid tokens, which take longer to buy.

In its second update, it also said that 5 billion dollars of the reserved money was already held in the same tokens that were stolen, such as USDC, USDT, BTC, ETH and BNB. This is why it could show quick progress on coverage.

The recovery uses three sources:

  • A partial use of the Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU), which Binance says it will refill to about 1 billion dollars

  • A part of the Futures insurance fund

  • Binance’s own corporate treasury

It has also promised the following:

  • A fresh Proof of Reserves snapshot, with the full zero-knowledge proof expected by 3 November 2026

  • Phased reopening of withdrawals, targeted for Sunday, 1 November 2026

  • A detailed technical report after the investigation ends

These steps are described on the company’s official announcement pages, and readers can check theProof of Reserves page themselves once the full proof is live.

Why the Crypto Lobby Controversy Needs Facts, Not Fear

Big hacks naturally create fear, and fear often turns into political blame. That is why this crypto lobby controversy is spreading fast on social media.

Still, a security failure at one exchange and a claim about regime change are two very different things.

The first is documented in official updates, while the second has not been backed by any document in the sources reviewed here.

There are also open questions that only time can answer. The exchange has not yet released its full technical report, and it has not named the attackers.

Until that report arrives, nobody can say with certainty how the breach happened from start to finish, and no official source has linked it to any political activity in India or elsewhere.

For ordinary investors, the practical lessons are simple:

  • Follow only official channels for updates and ignore unofficial links or messages

  • Do not panic-sell based on viral posts

  • Check Proof of Reserves instead of relying on rumours

Conclusion

The Binance breach is serious, and the numbers are huge. Yet the official statements describe a hacking incident with a recovery plan, not a political plot.

MP Dubey’s question has put the Crypto Lobby Controversy in front of the public, but it remains an allegation until evidence is shown.

Readers should wait for the technical report and let verified facts lead the discussion.
