Crypto News: Phantom and Sui Split as Wallet Support Ends Sept. 24
CryptoCompass editorial visual for altcoins coverage.

Key Insights:

  • Crypto news: Phantom tweeted that it will end Sui wallet support on Sept. 24, removing swaps and transactions.
  • Sui assets will remain onchain and accessible through other compatible wallets.
  • Phantom waives fees for native SUI-to-wrapped SUI swaps until the transition.

Crypto news centers on Phantom and Sui after both sides agreed to end wallet support on September 24, 2026. After that date, Phantom users cannot view, send, swap, or interact with Sui assets inside the wallet.

However, those assets will remain on the Sui blockchain and stay accessible through compatible wallets using the same credentials. Phantom has given users two routes before the transition, either converting assets or moving their wallet elsewhere.

Crypto News: Phantom Sets Sept. 24 Sui Transition

Phantom has tweeted that it will remove Sui balances from its interface and take the network off its supported network list. The wallet will also stop supporting Sui transactions, swaps, and connections to decentralized applications after the transition.

Existing Phantom connections to Sui applications will no longer function once the wallet ends support. Users moving to another compatible wallet must reconnect those applications through their replacement wallet.

The change closes an integration that became available on January 29, 2025. Sui became Phantom’s first supported blockchain built with the Move programming language.

At launch, users could manage SUI tokens, make swaps, and connect with applications including Suilend, Bluefin, Navi, and Aftermath. Phantom has not linked the withdrawal to a security breach, network failure, or technical problem.

The company’s support notice instead describes the change as a product transition without providing any commercial or technical rationale. Phantom and Sui also described the split as mutual and left open the possibility of collaborations later.

Phantom Gives Users Two Asset Options

Phantom also stated that users holding Sui assets can either convert them within Phantom or move them to another compatible wallet. The first option allows users to swap native SUI into wrapped SUI on Solana before September 24.

Phantom has waived its own fee for that cross-chain conversion through the transition date. As per this crypto news, network and exchange charges still apply to those transactions.

Users may also swap Sui assets into supported assets such as SOL, ETH, or USDC. However, standard fees apply when users choose those alternatives instead of the waived SUI-to-wrapped-SUI route.

After each swap, the user holds the selected asset on a network that Phantom continues to support. That option lets users remain within Phantom while leaving the Sui network before support ends.

The second route allows users to keep their Sui assets without converting them. Phantom directs users to reveal and securely store their Secret Recovery Phrase before importing it elsewhere.

Crypto News: Sui Assets Remain Accessible After Support Ends

Crypto news around the transition does not involve users losing their Sui assets after September 24. Phantom says balances remain recorded on the Sui blockchain even after they disappear from its interface.

Users can access those balances later through a compatible wallet using the same credentials. The transition date only ends Phantom’s ability to display and interact with Sui assets.

In addition, users with additional recovery phrases or imported private keys must transfer each credential separately. Phantom also says it will never contact users first or ask them for a recovery phrase.

The company warns that unsolicited migration assistance requesting those credentials should be treated as fraudulent. That warning remains relevant as users decide whether to swap assets or move their wallets.
