Summary

  • Italy’s quantum supercomputer and Volta B1 inauguration highlights potential cryptographic security risks facing blockchain networks and digital asset protection systems.
  • DAC incorporates Proof of Quantum Work and quantum entropy into its EVM-compatible blockchain architecture to strengthen long-term security.
  • DAC representatives joined technology experts at the Digital Innovation Forum 2026 to discuss quantum computing advancements and blockchain infrastructure security.

DAC has highlighted the need for quantum-resistant blockchain security as Italy inaugurates its first quantum supercomputer and industrial quantum annealer, Volta B1. According to an official statement shared with 36Crypto, the October 16 inauguration at the Digital Innovation Forum 2026 highlights potential cryptographic threats to blockchain networks.

Developed under Q-Alliance’s technical and scientific supervision, Volta B1 represents an addition to Europe’s expanding quantum computing infrastructure. DAC Head of Innovation Davide Costa participated in a forum panel examining quantum computing, supercomputers, high-performance computing, and blockchain.

DAC Prioritizes Quantum Resistance in Blockchain Infrastructure

Quantum computing advancements have raised concerns about the long-term reliability of cryptographic systems supporting blockchain networks. These systems protect digital transactions through mathematical algorithms that could face security challenges from sufficiently powerful quantum computers.

Addressing these concerns, Costa stated, “At DAC, we’re addressing this challenge by embedding quantum resistance into blockchain infrastructure from the outset.”

DAC is developing an Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible Layer-1 blockchain with quantum resistance incorporated into its architecture. Its technology combines Proof of Quantum Work, known as PoQW, with quantum entropy to support long-term cryptographic resilience.

Additionally, the network aims to provide predictable transaction costs for businesses developing applications within blockchain environments. EVM compatibility lets applications designed for Ethereum-compatible networks run on DAC’s proposed infrastructure.

Italy’s Quantum Infrastructure Expansion Draws Industry Attention

Italy’s quantum computing initiative also brought DAC representatives together with researchers, technology specialists, and industry participants. Their discussions addressed infrastructure development and the relationship between advanced computing technologies and blockchain security.

Meanwhile, the inauguration of Volta B1 highlights Europe’s investment in computing systems designed to support research and industrial applications. The forum provided DAC with an opportunity to outline its security approach alongside developments in quantum computing infrastructure.

As quantum capabilities advance, DAC’s development plans center on integrating cryptographic resilience into its EVM-compatible blockchain architecture. The project also maintains its emphasis on predictable transaction costs and infrastructure intended for business applications. DAC’s participation connects these objectives with broader industry efforts to examine future blockchain security requirements.
