XRPL Korea reported a critical security notice shared by DCENT Wallet, following detection of abnormal asset transfers linked to its App Wallet. DCENT Wallet, which supports multiple cryptocurrencies including XRP, stated it has launched an urgent investigation to determine the cause and scope of the incident.
According to DCENT, initial findings indicate the vulnerability is restricted to the App Wallet. The company emphasized that hardware wallets remain unaffected at this time.
DCENT outlined two primary groups who must take immediate action: users with any assets held in the DCENT App Wallet and those who have used the same mnemonic phrase for both the App Wallet and a hardware wallet. These users are strongly encouraged to transfer their funds without delay to a secure hardware wallet or another trusted wallet address.
For users relying solely on DCENT hardware wallets, provided they have never imported or restored their recovery phrase in the App Wallet, no further action is required.
DCENT also released a detailed update reinforcing that recent abnormal asset transfers have involved only the App Wallet. The company continues to investigate and monitor the situation closely.
The wallet provider instructed users to update the DCENT app to the latest version before performing any asset transfers. DCENT stresses that transactions should not be made using the App Wallet unless the app is fully updated. If users have used the same recovery phrase in the App Wallet, asset transfers must be prioritized regardless of where the phrase was initially generated.
In addition to technical recommendations, DCENT warned about the heightened risk of scams. Users are urged to avoid sending digital assets to wallet addresses received via direct messages or unofficial channels and to be cautious with any unsolicited transfer instructions. Official communications will not include requests for private keys, recovery phrases, or asset transfers for recovery or compensation purposes.
