Dunamu, the operator of the South Korea-based cryptocurrency exchange Upbit, has formed a strategic partnership with global payments company Visa to develop stablecoins and AI-based next-generation financial services. According to a statement released by Dunamu on August 28th, the two companies will collaborate to develop the financial and payment infrastructure of the future.
The detailed roadmap for the partnership was unveiled at a meeting held at the Global Market Support Center in San Francisco. The parties plan to combine Dunamu’s digital asset technology with Visa’s global payment network to work on stablecoin-based payment solutions and cross-border money transfers.
One of the main goals of the collaboration is to enable more effective integration of stablecoins with traditional payment systems. Stablecoins, as digital assets that typically peg their value to traditional currencies such as the US dollar, offer an alternative infrastructure for fast and low-cost money transfers.
Dunamu and Visa will explore stablecoin-based payment solutions as well as the use cases of artificial intelligence in future financial services. The two companies aim to develop new products and services in the payment and finance sectors by leveraging AI technologies.
It is believed that combining Dunamu’s technical expertise in the digital asset space with Visa’s global payment infrastructure could strengthen the link between the cryptocurrency ecosystem and traditional finance. In particular, increasing the use of stablecoins in cross-border payments has the potential to shorten transaction times and reduce costs.
The global growth of the stablecoin market is also increasing the interest of major financial and payment companies in digital assets. While Visa has recently been working to expand the use of blockchain and stablecoin technologies in payment systems, the Dunamu partnership indicates that the role of South Korea-based crypto companies in the global financial infrastructure could also be strengthened.
The parties are expected to develop joint projects and products in the coming period.
