Ethereum Foundation has appointed pcaversaccio, a longtime Ethereum contributor, to its board of directors. The Ethereum Foundation announced the move on July 29, adding a security researcher known for privacy advocacy and developer tools. He will serve an initial one-year voluntary term alongside Vitalik Buterin and other board members.
Ethereum Foundation Expands Focus on Security and Privacy
The Ethereum Foundation selected Pascal Caversaccio, known online as pcaversaccio, for his work across blockchain security and protocol development. He co-founded SEAL 911, an initiative that helps projects respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities.
His contributions include CreateX, a smart contract deployment framework, and snekmate, a security library for Vyper developers. He also maintains Ethereum security resources covering historical smart contract attacks and recovery methods.
The Ethereum Foundation said pcaversaccio has also contributed through the Silviculture Society. The advisory group focuses on Ethereum values, including open-source development, censorship resistance, privacy, and security.
Pcaversaccio has written about privacy and self-sovereignty through documents such as the Ethereum Cypherpunk Manifesto. His work supports stronger privacy protections across decentralized systems.
Ethereum Foundation Board Adds Privacy Focus
The Ethereum Foundation board now includes four members: Vitalik Buterin, Aya Miyaguchi, Patrick Storchenegger, and pcaversaccio. The appointment comes during a period of internal changes at the organization.
The Ethereum Foundation recently reduced staff numbers and created a more focused Protocol division. The foundation has also adjusted its strategy around core Ethereum development priorities.
The addition of a security-focused contributor places more attention on smart contract safety and privacy discussions. The Ethereum Foundation continues to manage protocol development while responding to broader regulatory and ecosystem challenges.
