Ethereum News Today: VerusCoin Hack, Binance Whale Transfer, ETH Price

A $7.53 million exploit just hit an Ethereum-linked cross-chain bridge — and it's not the only major move shaking the network today.

For traders watching ETH hover near $1925, this comes right as a major F2Pool-linked wallet dumps millions onto Binance while Arthur Hayes keeps quietly stacking coins. Here's what most headlines aren't connecting — and what it could mean for where ETH goes next.

Beyond the price action, today's developments highlight three key forces shaping short-term outlook: protocol security, whale behavior, and institutional-level market sentiment.

Together, they offer investors a broader view of the risks and opportunities that could influence momentum in the coming sessions.

Ethereum Price Today: ETH Rises Above $1925 While Trading Volume Declines

It is changing hands around $1925.66, up 0.48% over the past 24 hours, giving it a market capitalization of roughly $232.39 billion. The modest gain comes even as 24-hour trading volume slipped to $9.71 billion, a drop of 23.17% from the previous session.

That falling volume-to-market-cap ratio, now sitting at 4.21%, suggests the current price stability is happening on thinner participation — a detail that matters given the security and whale movement stories breaking alongside it.

VerusCoin Ethereum Bridge Suffers Suspected $7.53 Million Exploit

Security firm CertiK has issued an alert warning that the VerusCoin Ethereum cross-chain bridge appears to have been exploited, with roughly $7.53 million in assets moved to a single attacker-controlled address. The alert flags the withdrawal as a live, ongoing security event tied to the bridge's transfer verification logic.

CertiK noted the incident closely resembles a prior exploit from May 2026, when the same bridge failed to properly confirm that assets deposited on the Verus side actually matched the amount being paid out on Ethereum.

According to CertiK's technical breakdown, a legitimate-looking transaction worth just 0.01 in value appears to have been used to trigger a disproportionately large payout, because the contract checked its transfer hash against an arbitrary, attacker-supplied value rather than validating it independently.

The drained funds reportedly spanned multiple assets, including ETH, tBTC, USDC, and USDT, all routed to the same destination wallet. This mirrors the earlier May 2026 breach, which saw an even larger $11.58 million pulled from the same bridge infrastructure.

Repeated exploits on the same bridge design raise fresh questions about how thoroughly cross-chain verification code gets audited after a first breach. For users holding assets on smaller or less battle-tested bridges, this is a reminder to track project security disclosures closely before moving funds across chains.

F2Pool Co-Founder Chun Wang Moves $15.65 Million in ETH and WBTC to Binance

On-chain analytics account Onchain Lens flagged a fresh transfer from F2Pool co-founder Chun Wang, who moved a combined $15.65 million in crypto to Binance. The transfer included 6009 ETH worth approximately $11.56 million and 62.31 WBTC worth close to $4.09 million.

According to the tracked wallet activity, the assets originated from a Spark Finance withdrawal, an unstaking transaction on Lido Finance, and a WETH-to-WBTC swap executed through CoW Swap before landing on Binance.

Large exchange inflows from known industry figures often get read by traders as an early signal of potential selling pressure, though transfers to Binance don't always translate into an immediate sale. Given the size of this move, it's one worth watching in tandem with ETH's order book activity over the coming days.

Arthur Hayes Accumulates 3270 ETH in Eight Days

While one whale sends funds to an exchange, another appears to be doing the opposite. BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes has been steadily accumulating ETH over the past week and a half.

Per Lookonchain data, Hayes added another 644.34 ETH worth about $1.25 million just hours ago. Over the past eight days, his total purchases have reached 3270 ETH, worth an estimated $6.27 million, at an average entry price of roughly $1,917 per token.

Consistent, multi-day accumulation from a high-profile figure like Hayes often draws attention as a possible confidence signal, even as broader trading volume cools. Whether this buying pattern continues could offer clues about near-term sentiment among larger market participants.

What Ethereum Updates Mean for Investors

Today's Ethereum news cycle paints a mixed picture: a security scare on a connected bridge, a large whale outflow to an exchange, and steady accumulation from a well-known investor — all while ETH itself holds relatively flat.

Traders may want to track whether the Verus bridge exploit triggers wider scrutiny of similar cross-chain projects, whether Chun Wang's Binance transfer is followed by actual selling, and whether Arthur Hayes' buying streak continues into a new week. Each of these threads could influence short-term price action independently of the broader market trend.

Conclusion

Ethereum ETH price is holding steady near $1925, but the real story today is happening beneath the surface — a suspected $7.53 million bridge exploit, a $15.65 million whale transfer to Binance, and continued accumulation from Arthur Hayes. How these three threads play out over the coming days could shape ETH's next directional move.
