Ethereum registered a robust price increase on Monday, September 21, 2026, as a combination of bullish technical signals and renewed interest in spot ETFs drove momentum. Significant growth in derivatives activity added support to the positive outlook for ETH.

Price action and technical outlook

At the time of reporting, Ethereum (ETH) trades at $2,716.88, reflecting a 5.6% gain within 24 hours. CoinMarketCap data shows daily trading volume has surged 94.67% to $18.24 billion, while ETH’s price climbed 8.03% over the past week.

Crypto Patel, a well-followed market analyst, noted a marked bullish change of character in Ethereum’s price structure on higher timeframes. ETH broke decisively above the $2,300 demand zone and rebounded strongly above the $2,483 to $2,584 fair value gap.

Patel identified the $2,483-$2,584 area as a critical reaction level in the market. The next target for bulls is the $2,715-$2,900 range, while resistance beyond that sits at $3,070-$3,404, aligned with the next bearish order block and fair value gap.

Patel emphasized that the bullish outlook may persist as long as ETH remains above $2,360, with $2,300 serving as key trend line support and $1,647-$1,744 acting as additional support in case of a price breakdown.

Ash Crypto, another crypto analyst, pointed out that Ethereum staged a weekly breakout after gaining 6.77% over the previous week. Ash Crypto cited a move above a key consolidation box, which had previously preceded three historic breakouts in ETH’s price.

For ongoing support, broader zones have been marked at $1,900 and $1,500. If ETH continues to hold above the breakout range, price targets between $3,200 and $3,600 may become relevant. A return below the prior consolidation, however, could dampen upward momentum.

Spot ETF inflows recover after withdrawals

Data from SoSoValue showed that US spot Ethereum ETFs recorded $143.80 million in net inflows on September 18. This inflow followed a significant three-day period from September 15 to 17 during which the funds saw net withdrawals totaling $404.82 million.

This bounce equates to a recovery of about 35.5% of the assets withdrawn in the previous three days. The cumulative net inflow to US spot ETH ETFs now stands at $13.25 billion, with ETF net assets rising from $15.42 billion to $16.72 billion in a single day.

The trading value for these ETFs increased to $1.88 billion, up from $680.47 million the day before. These figures suggest renewed investor participation despite the volatility experienced throughout September.

Derivatives data and liquidity

Futures data from CoinGlass indicates ETH future volume surged 67.53% to $63.88 billion. Open interest rose by 8.21% to $36.47 billion, and the OI-weighted funding rate was recorded at 0.0089%. CoinGlass’s liquidation heatmap highlighted ETH trading within the $2,700-$2,720 zone, with notable short liquidation clusters near $2,730-$2,800.

The heatmap suggests that if ETH surpasses $2,750, an additional wave of short liquidations could occur as the price meets dense clusters above the current market.

On the downside, major liquidity clusters reside around $2,600-$2,660 and at $2,550, providing market participants with important reference points in the event of rapid price swings.

Key technical indicators

TradingView data places ETH at $2,714.3, notably above the 20-day EMA at $2,506.7 and the 50-day EMA at $2,336.6. The recent crossover, with the 20-day EMA exceeding the 50-day EMA, signals bullish momentum in both the short and medium term.

ETH’s current price is also above the 100-day EMA ($2,198.9) and 200-day EMA ($2,226.5), strengthening the technical argument for upward movement. The Bollinger Bands indicate the midline at $2,506.1, the upper band at $2,672.3, and the lower band at $2,339.9, with ETH trading above the upper band, suggesting increased volatility and positive momentum.

All eyes now turn to the $2,715-$2,900 range as identified by Crypto Patel. A clear move above this range would expose ETH to resistance at $3,070–$3,404, while failure to hold the breakout brings key levels at $2,584, $2,483, and $2,360 back into focus.

In the coming sessions, ETH’s response to these support and liquidity areas, together with ETF flows and derivatives positioning, will help clarify the immediate trend.
